The Ohio legislature Tuesday approved one of the nations toughest abortion laws, and the bill is now headed to Gov. John Kasich for his signature or veto.
Votes in the Ohio Senate and House capped a long day of maneuvering on a bill that would effectively outlaw abortions by banning the procedure once a heartbeat is detected, which can be as early as six weeks into a pregnancy.
First Ohio senators voted 21-10 for the bill, which is different than the one the House approved last year. After more than 90 minutes of emotional debate, the House voted 56-39 late Tuesday in favor of the changes. The votes were mostly along party lines with Republicans in support and Democrats in opposition.
Ohio Senate President Keith Faber, R-Celina, who previously balked at passing such bills because he said they would face constitutional challenges, said the election of Republican Donald Trump and an opening on the U.S. Supreme Court changes the dynamics.

We won one here.
“...Ohio senators voted 21-10 for the bill ...he House voted 56-39...”
Gee... that’s a MAJORITY isn’t it? And the Democrats are ALWAYS saying we’re a “democracy”, where the MAJORITY rules, right??
Guess that means it’s passed, because the MAJORITY wants it.
will kasich veto it?
Roe Vs Wade will be overturned.
Don’t know I’m not from Ohio
I will be real surprised if he signs this bill.I’m not holding my breath.
that is what i am thinking.
The amendment is attached to a budget bill which will allow for a line item veto. I am hopeful Gov. Kasich does not choose that option. He has the chance to be a hero.
Providing the nimrod signs it..., yes we did.
Watch more states adopt this. Very very good!
I am an old guy. I cannot take all this WINNING!!!
Looks like a popular vote win to me ;)
I have never voted for a pro-abortion candidate from either party, but I no longer believe abortion will be outlawed. Too many people on both sides of the aisle view it as the solution to problems with our unassimilated urban population.
What will the son of a mailman do? Will he sign or karate chop it?
Why... that’s Amazing!! I see the SAME thing!!!
Great Minds, and all that...
If he does sign it, the libs will fight it, and some liberal judge will strike it down. He better sign it, though.
He’s not going to sign it, he’s not currently running in an election. Waiting for Leftists to threaten to move jobs out of the state
Guessing Governor squish won’t sign it.
Yes, our governor is a squish, but he has always been very strong pro-life. So, we’ll wait and see.
What will Hong Kong Phooey do?
