Statewide recounts in key 2016 battlegrounds are proceeding in fits and starts -- but doing little to change the math behind Donald Trump's victory.
In Wisconsin, one of three states where Green Party candidate Jill Stein has sought a fresh tabulation, the president-elect has even gained on Hillary Clinton.
The push for a recount in Pennsylvania, meanwhile, is awaiting a federal court's OK, and a similar effort in Michigan has run into new judicial turbulence. But while Trump narrowly defeated Clinton in all three states, the numbers trickling in look unlikely to call into question the Nov. 8 results.
In any election, the actual change in the margin of votes is very, very low, Drew Spencer Penrose, legal director at FairVote, told FoxNews.com. For people hoping for a change in results, I wouldnt hold my breath.
Heres a rundown of what is happening in each state:
Wisconsin
With the Wisconsin Election Commission working since last Thursday when Stein paid $3.5 million for the recount after alleging reports of fraud there has been little change so far to the unofficial results reported on Election Day. Trump won the state by 22,000 votes over Clinton.
In a twist, Trump is gaining.

Michigan
A statewide hand recount of Michigans roughly 2.8 million ballots that began on Monday is now up in the air as a federal judge will hold a hearing Wednesday on whether to stop it.
The state elections board also is meeting Wednesday, a day after the Michigan appeals court ordered it to dismiss Stein’s recount petition, claiming she has no standing. The court noted that she received 1 percent of the vote and has no chance of catching Trump, who narrowly defeated Clinton in the state. A federal judge takes up the matter next.
According to the certified results from late November, Trump won the state by about 10,700 votes or about two-tenths of a percentage point. The recount so far was looking at eight counties, including the states largest, Wayne.
Pennsylvania
Verification measures have been taken in the Keystone States two largest counties Philadelphia and Allegheny (home of Pittsburgh) but the fate of a statewide recount rests in the hands of a federal court after Steins Green Party filed a federal lawsuit on Monday.
While Pennsylvania has yet to certify its results from Novembers election, an updated count by state election officials saw Trumps lead shrink to just about 46,000 over Clinton out of the 6 million votes cast in the state.
So far there have been very few reports of discrepancies in the recounts that have taken place.
The “recounts” are only the first step by the left. If the recount doesn’t reverse the result, then the left will then sue to have, 1) conservative blocks of ballots disqualified, 2) “undervotes” examined for possible “intent” for Hillary, 3) entire voting districts disqualified (in conservative areas) because of some imagined “fraud.”
Reminds me of the Democratic Party presidential primary in Kentucky this year. Hillary Clinton squeaked out a narrow victory, and all the Bernouts started shrieking about a recount. The recanvass happened and Sanders lost by a bigger margin.
The good part is the sound of liberals filling their depends.
Uh Oh: Half Of Detroit’s Ballots Might Be Disqualified Due To Errors

I don’t think that’s their goal. The left knows the election is over, and their girl lost. But they see that Trump lost the popular vote the same as Bush did. So they are looking ahead, and want to undermine Trump like they did W. So they are sowing the seeds of doubt and discontent. It didn’t work in 2004 but by 2008 the Bush name was toxic.
you can’t give democrats time after the election count to plant votes and fill out more absentee ballots to be “found” that were not counted and modify voting machines to get ready for a recount which they file for just under the deadline for filing.
The recounts are good because it keeps the left occupied with a frivolous time killer while President Trump prepares to move into the White House.
These articles are all worthless because they are so very outdated.
The recount goes on, and it’s going pretty fast. In about 3 hours the state will release another spreadsheet showing results as of midnight last night.
Based on progress to date (the last spreadsheet showed 60% of the state’s 2.9 million votes have been recounted) today’s spreadsheet (reflecting recount up to midnight last night (Tuesday)) will likely show about 75% of the state done.
At this rate they will finish by or during this coming weekend. The 99% rule probably comes into play where the final 1% takes longer than because it is hard to read ballots, or something like that, but in general this weekend is a reasonable expectation of completion.
I agree that they want to undermine Trump’s legitimacy, but their gold ring would be for them to overturn the election by hook or by crook.
They will NOT stop with a recount that doesn’t go their way.
My error of ommission in previous reply.
Talking about Wisconsin, the only state that will complete its recount by deadline.
Was his name toxic due to the attacks from the left or due to his immigration and economic policies that put the welfare of Mexican illegal aliens ahead of US citizens?
IMO, it was the latter.
It was due to the casualty count in Iraq, truth be told.
Old news and far, FAR more likely to hurt Clinton since Detroit is heavily Dem.
Casualty count in Iraq?
Are you aware that the military death totals under ostupid are fully three times that of Bush? If the deaths hurt Bush why didn’t 3x the number of deaths hurt the muzzie?
Can you say media bias?
Why should a recount be preferred over the original count?
