On Tuesday, disgruntled Democrats held a forum to discuss the possibility of replacing the Electoral College.
Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) conceded that Democrats could not get rid of the Electoral College due to the way the United States Constitution is written.
I dont think we can sustain our American democracy by having the majority ruled by the minority. And so the question is how to fix this since the Constitution is written in such a way that its almost impossible to amend, Lofgren said.
Lofgren went on to say she is open to a Constitutional Convention, We are three states away from calling for a Constitutional Convention. Its something Ive always been opposed to,
. But Ill say because, for the second time in sixteen years, people the American voters elected did not become president. Rational people, not the fringe, are now talking about whether states could be separated from the U.S., whether we should have a Constitutional Convention. And I think as time goes on that is apt to become more the case unless we here can figure an answer to preventing the majority from being ruled by the minority.
These adult-children need to put up or shut up.
Boeing and Airbus will take you anywhere you want to go. No need for a convention; just leave!
I’d gladly vote for that provided they never come back.
Looks like the fabric of the heartland was eaten by moths.
But we’ve made progress in controlling them.
I would not shed a drop of blood to keep the Soviet Northeast or Commiefornia in the Union.
Zoe needs a sabbatical to take Remedial American Government 101. She might still flunk it.
You know what happens when we start to “ASS-U-ME”.
That makes me feel MUCH better. :)
If you actually look at all the red counties you quickly realize that they are the producers of 90 to 97 percent of all the food, water, minerals, timber and other resources necessary to sustain life.
If the blue counties want to leave; I say let them, then we cut off all resources until they pay OUR PRICE.
Just say YES to the GREAT STATE OF JEFFERSON.
She obviously doesn’t realize it but she is pushing for another civil war. The USA would never let CA just secede. It’s has value in its sheer location we simply would not give up without putting up the biggest fight possible. The funny thing is she actually sounds intelligent until you understand what it is she is truly saying and calling for. She’s right about the convention of states being close to happening. Conservatives have been pushing for years for it to happen and it just might now that the CA dems want it. It’s a slippery slope though because all states get to propose changes to the Constitution. Certain changes I would love to see such as everyone in every state who is not a felon can carry a concealed firearm just as we do in many states across America. I would like to see the burning of the American flag have consequences such as giving up the right to vote at the very least. On the other hand changes such as a popular vote winning the Presidency, which simply can never happen as we have just seen, could be changed if enough states agreed to it.
We are certainly living during interesting times. Scary in some ways but certainly interesting. Wouldn’t it be great if we could open the door to another universe, a mirror universe where America is nothing but liberals, then push all liberals from our universe through that door so they can be happy in a country that looks like L.A., NY, Seattle, Portland, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, and all of South America while the rest of us live happily ever after in this universe? Yeah; sometimes I indulge in wishful fantasies too... We could easily do just fine without the 20-30 million that would go. Better than fine; thrive Bigly.
Also, something libs in CA keep saying is CA pays more in taxes than it gets in return. While I seriously doubt that on every level they are not taking into account one of many many ongoing federal investments; military bases such as the huge ones in San Diego and other less populated ones spread throughout the state which brings in huge taxes for the state. Typical dems only see what they want to see and ignore the rest like it isn’t even there. I have seen this phenomenon many times now and it never gets any less astonishing. I bet the dems think the military is something they have to endure, like a cramp or something, rather than be thankful they are there as protection. Simply astonishing... Liberalism truly is a mental derangement condition.
I can see that in the Northeast there are some sane people...
Man, that would be great if all the leftists just took California and wallowed.
Iron, I know 2 people who are Conservatives who are on government assistance. 1 guy who is 40 got shot during a robbery left him with 5 bullets in his head. He is paralyzed on his left side of his body. He gets SS because of it, but he voted Trump. Another is on assistance because he lost his business and he is making a comeback. He hates it but his wife is working and not making what they were making.
PLEASE .. NO YELLING AT THE 2 YEAR OLDS .. THEY’RE IN CRISIS .. SUCH DELICATE LITTLE FLOWERS .. SO SAD.
THESE DEMOCRATS HAVE ME AT PUKE ALREADY.
I have been using Trump's idea submitting webpage to make the case for an Article V convention in order to facilitate passage of portions of his 100 day plan that Congress has refused to consider. While Donald Trump has committed to do a number of things many of us want, we know that no president can or should just change the law. Just because the current president did it repeatedly thru executive orders doesn't mean any man should. I think Trump is smart enough to know that even tho some Americans aren't. I just don't see any other way to change status quo without Art. V. So I've been trying to post different reasons, issues and propositions that could be done to the "idea page" in hopes of it getting attention or gaining traction. He's a very busy man now but when it's time for him to consider overcoming the bloated judiciary and legislation I want that idea in front of him.
