As Donald Trump continues to indicate that he might be willing to change his position on climate change, which he has long called a hoax, the president-elect met Monday with former vice president Al Gore, who has become a prominent activist in the fight against global warming.
Gore was originally scheduled to meet just with Trump's oldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, who is not registered with a political party and has already pushed her father to adopt positions usually promoted by Democrats. Gore told reporters that after that meeting, he then had an extremely interesting conversation with the president-elect.
I had a lengthy and very productive session with the president-elect. It was a sincere search for areas of common ground, Gore told reporters after spending about 90 minutes at Trump Tower in Manhattan during the lunch hour Monday. I had a meeting beforehand with Ivanka Trump. The bulk of the time was with the president-elect, Donald Trump. I found it an extremely interesting conversation, and to be continued, and I'm just going to leave it at that.
Trump has repeatedly called climate change a hoax and has even accused the Chinese government of creating this fake problem to steal manufacturing jobs from the United States. But Trump seemed to soften that position during a meeting with the New York Times late last month, saying that he would keep an open mind on the issue and acknowledging that human activity might be connected to changes in the climate.
Ivanka Trump is one of the most influential people in Trump's life and is a member of his transition team, although she has said she does not plan to take an active role in her father's administration. Her husband, Jared Kushner, is one of Trump's most trusted aides, and the couple are reportedly house-hunting in Washington.

I am very curious as to why he met with Al Gore, and I wish he hadn't. First of all, I would presume that the policies that Al Gore advocates are counter to those that Trump advocates - especially when it comes to regulations on business. Second of all, Al Gore was vehemently against Trump saying that he would "cause a climate catastrophe."
Al Gore said over 10 years ago that we only had 10 years left to save the planet. Rush Limbaugh did a 10 year countdown clock on his website. The 10 years have passed. We are still here. Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio (mentioned later in the article as giving a documentary he did to Ivanka Trump) preach about carbon footprint for the little people while all the while living in large homes and jet setting the world.
I wonder what DiCaprio says to people who don't believe the unborn child is a person:
The scientific consensus is in, and the argument is now over. If you do not believe in climate change, you do not believe in facts, or in science, or empirical truths, and therefore, in my humble opinion, should not be allowed to hold public office.
STAY AWAY FROM AL GORE!!!!!!! He is CERTIFIABLE!!!! STAY AWAY...FAR AWAY, IVANKA!! He will STAIN YOU WITH his INSANITY!!!
Simple, Trump reconnoiter the enemy. Gore ran his mouth.
Cap Huff deduced the key aspect of this. Gore came out and said to the cameras that he just met with “PRESIDENT ELECT TRUMP.”
Trump now has further established in the public mind, including the left, yep, he’s president.
Like who is Gore going to tell...that he doesn't have a clue what Trump will do and that he (Gore) has been deemed the village idiot.
OwlGore is the infamous “Chakra Man”....and put the “junk” in Junk Science.
Exactly!
He’s also controlling the news cycle and will probably never stop doing so.
I hope he is just playing rope-e-dope with these issues. He only needs to see the reaction from the left and the MSM to his not taking the $400,000 salary for President. That’s $1.6 million for 4 years and nobody has given him a lick of credit for doing it.
The left/MSM will never be appeased so stop trying!
One thing you can be sure of — Gore would not have said anything else, however the conversation went. “Interesting” is the most non-specific description he could use. Considering Trump’s status, any conversation with him would be interesting.
“RELEASE MY SECOND CHAKRA”!!!! What a FREAKING WEIRDO!
TRUMP just giving him fair warning! War is about to begin!
Clean air. Clean water
(Ivanka was just scouting the battleground!)
Right, his opponents are coming to him and acknowledging that he’s going to be the boss. The effort to de-legitimize him is failing already.
LORD keep Trump strong to do what is right and in accordance with Your will. Let Donald listen only to Your voice and discern truth from falsehood in conversations with others. In Jesus name I pray. Amen :)
IT"S ALL ABOUT CONTROLLING US!!!!!!
Ivanka and Donald...DON:T SCREW THIS UP!!!
Simple, Trump reconnoiter the enemy.
I have continually been surprised how people will give up intel if you just let them talk long enough. Many times they dont want to hear your side anyway.
Sort of like all the dukes and earls coming to kiss the king’s ring.
Honestly I have the impression that Trump on many issues has neither strong convictions nor deeper insight. While overall a ‘man of his own’ this makes him very vulnerable for advice and pushing from various corners. Ivanka and her hubby Jared Kushner are certainly two of those ‘close people’ that appear to have an undue sway over him.
The other day Conway said in so many words that this Trump Tower cavalcade of the high and mighty, so to speak, was a way of demonstrating that Trump listens to people, people of various views. He is not a shallow thinker. This is the exact opposite of what Obama did, with shutting out everyone except extreme leftists.
Trump is doing this 180 degrees from Obama.
Talking to people who disagree with you is not capitulation. It’s the way to make a republic actually function. Climate change is a joke of an issue, not talking to people who think it’s not is just as foolish as believing that men can control the climate of the earth.
I've lived in the NYC area and I've seen Trump in action over the course of my entire adult life, and I've had that impression for years. I was a big supporter of his, but I'll be the first to admit that he's probably taken five different positions in the last ten years on any given issue.
