Democrats are increasingly antsy over the lineup President-elect Donald Trump has announced for his Cabinet, but they are also powerless to do very much to stop him — thanks to their own leader, Sen. Harry Reid.
It’s unlikely Mr. Reid had a President Trump in mind when he pulled the so-called “nuclear option” trigger three years ago, changing Senate rules to eviscerate the use of a filibuster to block presidential nominees.
Set up to help President Obama’s picks overcome GOP opposition, those same rules now will clear the path for Sen. Jeff Sessions to become the new attorney general, Rep. Tom Price to head Health and Human Services and two billionaires to lead the Treasury and Commerce departments.
Liberal interest groups are pleading with Democrats to fight the nominees, even though there’s not a lot they can do without the filibuster and against a unified GOP.

Yep, I believe that the GOPe realize that the Trump win along with with wins by Governors and state legislatures that voters are fed up and VP-elect Pence knows it, just my view.

Democrats do not, I repeat Do Not need the filibuster. Even if McConnell allows the “nuclear option” to stand.
Does anyone on Facebook really think McCain, Flake, Graham, Wicker, Cochran and the other “Never Trumpets” will vote for all (or any) of Trump’s nominees?

It’s about time we had a GOP that acted as if they had won, instead of being busy making sure everyone likes them. So much disappointment for many years, and now Trump is showing them how to succeed.

My concern is, though, that McCain, et al, may be able to recruit enough GOP-e RINOs in the Senate to stall some key appointments. The Senate continues to be our weak link.

Trump will not have to worry about a Jumping Jim Jeffords or a Lincoln Chafee or an Arlan Spector. There are still some Republican Senators who might obstruct his agenda, but Trump still has a much better Senate than Bush had when he came into office.
