‘The Consequences Will Be So Extreme’ — Texas Governor Announces War On Sanctuary Cities

Greg Abbot is using Monday’s horrific attack at Ohio State University to call for an end to sanctuary cities in both Texas and the rest of the United States.

The Texas governor told the “Fox & Friends” crew Tuesday that in the upcoming legislative sessions “we will pass a law, banning sanctuary cities in the state of Texas.”

Abbot has already used his “powers as governor of Texas to withhold funds from cities or counties that declare themselves to be sanctuary cities,” but his new declaration will make “the consequences will be so extreme for these cities and counties that they will have to follow the law.”

Why not just have the legislature pass a law saying that police must establish citizenship when they come into contact with a person in the performance of their duties? That way the cities can’t refuse to do so.

Maybe we just need a national ID card huh?

They had the chance to pass that law in the last (2015) legislative session, but it and many others were blocked by House Speaker Joe Strauss, beneficiary of an odd quirk in the Texas House rules that allow the Dimocrats to conspire with a couple of rogue RINOs to elect one of their own in spite of the GOP majority.

Yes, I know that Joe Strauss has an “R” after his name, but nobody who knows him would say that’s for anything other than convenience.

Because the police are not responsible for enforcing Federal laws.

The problem here is that, if I understand correctly, they are going to pass a law making something that was illegal, definitely illegal. Will we need another law eventually confirming just how illegal, illegal really is?

True. Which means that the governor is talking about sanctioning cities for not doing something they are under no obligation to do.

Put the mayors in jail and fine them heavily—them and anyone else who is complicit.

If the city sabotages our country’s efforts to protect its border, than perhaps the rest of the country needs to take control over the borders of the city, and put tight controls over who is allowed to leave that city, until everyone living there decides they should follow the country’s laws.

....or you can just seal the exits and require passport checks to get in or out of any “Sanctuary City”. Afterall, if they don’t abide by immigration laws, they must be considered foreign soil.

That would fix things in a hurry.

We already have them, if you want to fly, enter a federal facility or other property, even drive a car.

Secure Drivers' Licenses

A few states, including mine, are trying to buck the rule but the feds say fall in line or fall the hell out.
