Breaking: ND Governor Makes Emergency Declaration, Issues Mandatory Evacuation (Trunc)

Perhaps significantly advancing the time frame designated in the Army Corps of Engineers’ notice several Standing Rock Camps would face some form of eviction on December 5, North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple opportuned an incoming winter storm to issue a mandatory emergency evacuation order — for all encampments north of the Cannonball River.

Although the evacuation appears not be one of force, it is obligatory — all water protectors camping in Army Corps-managed land have been ordered by Dalrymple to take all possessions and vacate the area.

“These persons are ordered to leave the evacuation area immediately, and are further ordered not to return to the evacuation area,” the governor’s evacuation order states.

“Any action or inaction taken by any party which encourages persons to enter, reenter, or remain in the evacuation area will be subject to penalties as defined in law.”

“I direct state agencies, emergency service officials, and nongovernmental organizations to reduce threats to public safety by not guaranteeing the provision of emergency and other governmental and nongovernmental services in the evacuation area, unless otherwise approved on a case by case basis by the Morton County Sheriff or Superintendent of the Highway Patrol. The general public is hereby notified that emergency services probably will not be available under current winter conditions.”

This blizzard is not really that much, there will likely be only about 12” of snow with temps +25F or above. But the winds will be at 30 mph or better.

I loved those storms as a kid. The ones with the same snow and wind but below zero temps were a bitch.

It’s a CYA. Gov is stating that natural conditions will make emergency services impotent, so whoever stays on need realize they won’t be getting any help, not because the government doesn’t want to but because there’s a limit to what can be done in harsh weather.

Those who came for the “woodstock experience” are being given notice the fun is over and Mother Nature will kill them.

For ND natives (Indian or other) it’s a nothing and business will go on as usual. For out of state protesting losers, it could be life threatening.

I was stationed at Grand Forks for over seven years and spent many Winter days out at the Minuteman III Launch Facilities.

I would love to see these idiots out there when real winter weather hits. It is beyond brutal.

The media doing the bidding of the protesters, by using their weird name. Because there is no water where they are protesting, the water is not at risk in any case, and these people actually are having water given to them by the government.

Ref the USAF, we used to live in Minot & wife & I just had a discussion as to how many cars there would be in the ditch between MAFB and Minot during this storm.

Same applied to the oil boom, we once watched a truck pass us on ice, lost control, did a few loop-de-loops, then slid into the ditch and overturned.

Or better yet, with ditches level with snow, truckers would drive directly into them thinking a road was there.

8 years ago tomorrow, I moved from Detroit area to Baltimore for a new job. My family and most of my stuff stayed in Detroit till we sold the house.

About month after I moved in, we had a whopper of a snowstorm.

Keep in mind, I was told that winters in Maryland are mild and there’s never any snow, so my boots, snow pants, etc were all in Detroit.

We got three feet of snow. I remember walking outside my corporate apartment as these huge monster snowflakes were falling in droves wishing that I had my tent. I would have set it up outside the apartment and had a great time. But no, it was at home.

I made up for it though. My corporate apartment time ran out and I moved the next day, in 3 feet of snow to a new place I’d rented.

The city shut down. Those were my first ever snow days from work. In Michigan, you don’t shut down for snow. You leave two hours early for work.

I think Minot AFB and GFAFB were almost the same distance from town. The city of GF was about 15 miles away and after a big storm my wife and I would drive to town and count the "dead bugs" (vehicles upside down) in the median. Most of them were four wheel drives. Most people don't understand the laws of physics apply to four wheelers as well as two wheelers.

Not long after I got there and was still a Second Lieutenant on Crew we had a massive blizzard. The on-duty crews had been out in the capsules for two days and around 10am they sent out the relief crews. My crew was going to A-0, the furthest LCF and the two crews for B-0, E-0 and D-0 got behind me. I was the only northerner so they had me drive lead. US-2 was not bad but as we turned north the Route 1 (Lakota) the snow was two to three feet. I used the Suburban as a snow plow and made it to A-0 after six hours of driving. The other crews dropped off as they got to the roads needed to get to their LCFs. The E-0 crew got stuck not long after they turned off.

"The general public is hereby notified that emergency services probably will not be available under current winter conditions."

Soo, IOW "water protectors" should not expect to call 911 and get thawed out when the water in their arses freezes into ICE.

See Spot!
See Spot Run!
Where's Spot?
Brrrrrrrrr.

How many poodles fit in an Iconic 1955 vintage ice tray anyhow?

Hello Craigslist Community,
My name is David O'Neill and I am offering a once in a lifetime opportunity to come share your support for the Water Protectors at the Sacred Stone Camp in North Dakota. I have a 1955 school bus what has been converted into an RV that we will be driving and if possible we will be arranging a second vehicle to accommodate more people. We are currently raising money for supplies which we will donate to the Water Protectors in North Dakota. Our goal is to arrive with a large number of passionate persons to stand in solidarity with Standing Rock. We will also require that individuals contribute to the gas and food fund. Please note that this is a one-way ride!! I will be staying at the protests for as long as they continue and then I will likely head on in another direction. Also, in an effort to make bunks available to the Water Protectors who need it most, everyone must have made their own sleeping arrangements for once we arrive in North Dakota. It will be very cold so be sure to have a 4 season tent or yurt and a subzero sleeping bag. If you are interested in donating to the cause please feel free to call or text me.

“Most of them were four wheel drives. Most people don’t understand the laws of physics apply to four wheelers as well as two wheelers.”

I had similar thoughts after making the last post. Many never had the vehicle in 4WD. There’s was this strange belief that 4WD was not needed until you got stuck.

And yes, they were on their roof tops!

One of my pet peeves is they would drive bumper to bumper on ice at about 15 MPG. Problem being this would be a chain reaction when a lead vehicle lost control. Often there would be 10 - 30 car pile-ups.

Considering potential weather conditions and the likely effects on those who are unprepared, I’m inclined to think this is a wise safety precaution. If a blizzard were to bring death, you know the finger-pointing and blame for a Republican governor would never end. It would be his fault despite any stupidity on the part of those who were too stupid to leave or take appropriate shelter.

I’m against such orders as pure political ploys and prefer to leave it up to people to do as they please, but there is both a political and a safety aspect in this situation. Sad that a governor has to be boxed into a position like this because too many people are stupid.

You’re right. No such order would be given to any other segment of the population. He had to do it to CYA.

Regardless, if there is a death, the deceased nor the movement will not be held at fault by the MSM.

I don’t think the local tribe will take them in, as other articles have stated they do not like outsiders, especially the white ones. I do not blame them, I’d would not want a bunch of pot-head white trash littering my home either.

YEah, I mentioned that to a lib the other day as I was saying I really didn’t give a fig what happens to the protesters. Yesterday I posted and article about one of the injun organizers pleading with people not to treat this like a Burning Man or make a party out of it. Feh, club’em like baby seals.
