Come January, Republicans will control all three branches of government, but with only 52 Republicans in the Senate. That will not give them the 60 needed to break a Democrat filibuster.
Appearing on various Sunday talk shows, Schumer was asked if Senate Democrats will filibuster Trumps Supreme Court nominee, whoever it may be.
I would hope first and foremost that President Trump nominates a mainstream nominee capable of getting bipartisan support, Schumer told Fox News Sunday.
If he does, then well give it just a very, very thorough vetting, but we wont ipso facto say no. If its out of the mainstream, yes, were going to fight that nominee tooth and nail.

Bene, Don Trump. I need a man who has powerful friends. I need a million dollars in cash. I need, Don Trump, all of those cabinet and judicial appointments that you carry around in your pocket, like so many nickels and dimes.
Yes BUT consider what Democrat Senators see in the windshield for 2018. Red States with Democrat Senators running for reelection; West Virginia, North Dakota, Montana, Missouri and Indiana. Swing (Purple) States; Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan. That is 10 Senators who may find the belt getting tight!
Schumer is in trouble, Reid made 51 votes a way of life. Now deal with it.
We need to target the 23-24 Dem Senators up for reelection in 2018. Manchin is one; who are the others?? Scalia was a strict constructionist. I really hope that Schumer isn’t thinking the Left will have any say in his replacement. The country has spoken.....wise up Dems, or risk the likelihood that more of you will be relegated to the dustbin of history.
Chuckie-baby may have the tooth, but he'll find out that Donald has the nail.

What a smarmy fool. Yo0u lost. Get over it.
What a smarmy fool. You lost. Get over it.
Hey Chuckie, Trump won, get over it.
Mike Lee will be the nominee and they’ll find it very hard to oppose one of their own. That’s why he’s on the list. They’ll mount an opposition, but they’ll fail.
That does not matter with them. They have had time to regroup and now going on the attack again. Evil never acknowledges defeat. Evil never quits. Evil never rests. Evil never sleeps. Chuck Schumer is evil incarnate. He is Satan in human form. He is evil in human form. He will continue to do Satan’s bidding until the last breath of life leaves his body. Do not expect anything good or decent to come from him.
You lose Chuck. Constitutionalists will be appointed.
Hey Chuck,
Sit back, relax, and enjoy it.
We’re not interested in you inserting poison pills into every piece of legislation.
We’ll have to pass the Trump agenda to find out what’s in it.
The rule change does not apply to Supreme Court nominees, who are still subject to a 60-vote filibuster threshold, or to legislation.

MLB still requires a pitcher to actually throw 4 balls for an intentional walk. At lower levels of baseball, they just tell the umpire that they want to walk the batter, and he is sent to first base without a pitch being thrown.
In the same way, the Senate should return to the rules that require a senator to actually speak continuously, around the clock, in order to hold his filibuster. They stopped actually requiring this decades ago, and maybe it is time to go back to enforcing the actual filibuster rules where one is to be attempted.
With C-SPAN coverage now, it will show the actual obstructionism by whichever minority party is conducting a filibuster. This will reduce the current abuse of the filibuster such that it blocks so much action in the Senate, while preserving the filibuster for the future for those important issues that may need it.
It will be tough if not impossible to get anybody decent confirmed, thanks to all those GOPe Quislings.
Chuck you Farlie!
Look for McCain to form another gang of eight and block everything Trump tries to pass. He did it to Bush he’ll do it to Trump.
