A just-released poll shows that Donald Trumps campaign-trail immigration and labor policies have overwhelming public support, and strong opposition from just one-sixth of voters.
The Ipsos poll shows that only about one-in-six Americans strongly oppose Trumps policies towards immigrant labor, repatriations, sanctuary cities, Islamic migrants, employer oversight and his ground-breaking proposal to reduce legal immigration.

Yeah I noticed that too. I definitely want the wall.
“But...but...but...but...how can that be? The MSM says the opposite! And...he says MEAN THINGS! And hes a racist and homophobe and misogynist! Everybody thinks that!”
Hell, the friggen REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP was saying the same, based on Frank Luntz’s fake-news surveys. Then, Luis Gutierrez started cajoling the Republicans and somehow managed to convince half of them that if they didn’t support the legalization of 20 MILLION NEW DEMOCRAT VOTERS, the Republican Party was doomed.
Hopefully the REPUBLICANS learned their lesson now (hopefully) and will tell Luis to get out of our hair and go join Barak on the ‘Community Organizing’ trail, hopefully - the next time he starts sweet-talking again.
“Whites are still over 60% of the population...”
Actually whites were 70% of the voters, at least in 2016. At 70% of the voters, one would think SOMEONE in the Republican leadership would understand that if you can get enough of them in line, you can actually win elections. But no one did...or the big money wouldn’t let them, so they nearly gave the Dems Amnesty, and with it One-Party rule.
I agree, 42% for the wall sounded low, but wording is everything and people, I guess don’t like walls - probably because it was demonized so much by both parties. But perhaps if the question had been phrased as follows, the answer would have been much a lot different:
“Do you support securing of our Southern Border by whatever means necessary, even if that includes a wall?”
Sorry, but I don't buy this. Private property owners along the border suffer huge amounts of damage from illegal crossers. And their very lives are sometimes threatened.
I think they would offer to GIVE the necessary property away to get a real protection for their property and lives in place.
“I dont think most people want an actual massive wall along 1,000 miles, since enforcing the laws and not handing out massive welfare to criminals should be enough. The borderlands are a lovely area, or at least, used to be. A virtual wall, with certain parts reinforced with actual walls/fences, should work.”
Someone much earlier said that the Wall was a metaphor for securing the border...that about summed it up. If it’s effective and if it’s a wall where people have easy access to it, then that would be enough.
“The virtual wall doesn’t work.”
No kidding. Having all the sensors in the world doesn’t help much if the the people manning them get orders to ignore what they see, or shut them off.
I’ve always been VERY SUSPICIOUS of that concept, and I am still that way. We need to show them a BARRIER that they will have to deal with.
I actually think the support is stronger than the data might suggest. A lot depends on how the questions are asked and in what order. A lot might also depend on the thoughtfulness of the person answering.
I think there are some people who favor strong border control, but don’t necessarily favor building a wall. If I were asked the question in a survey, I would probably say “yes, build the wall”, but if I were actually in charge of making the decision, I might hesitate. Why? Because I haven’t looked at all options. I don’t favor building a wall along the Canadian border, yet I still favor border control with Canada. I think a lot of dangerous people slip through the Canadian border and that needs to be stopped. So in order not to be a hypocrite like most leftists, I’d have to stop and think more carefully about what the difference is and what is the most effective way to prevent illegals from entering the country.
Even sweet Canada demands that the person entering to stay must have lots of immediate cash as in money and must be able to perform a job that Canada NEEDS. Somehow I doubt Mily Cyrus will cruise into Canada ...though she might, there is always graft.
[Perhaps Trump can undo the reforms the dead kennedy made in the 60s and up the number of Europeans that can immigrate here every year.]
The problem is that would cover a lot of Muslim “Europeans” now. Same with Canada in a few years of Trudeau.
Yes, that is true. I wonder why the people who OWN the property along the border are not allowed to protect their property from trespassers. Even we can do that in PA...and as soon as they cross our doorstep into the house we can shoot them.
“Already its getting old.”
And it’s getting COLD. They will certainly want to retreat to warmer pursuits!
Racial makeup of Mexico:
Building a wall has been villainized by the media. That’s why those numbers are lower.
Sadly they do. People have been told repeatedly that building the Wall is impossible. It would be too big.
They also have been told that it would be futile. People would just climb it.
Both of these things are lies but they are what they have heard.
So based on what they know, which is you do what makes sense, a wall is a waste of money.
Once you take them on a five minute "walls of the world" tour their opinion changes.
The one between India and Pak-ee-stan really makes an impact.
The only reason the dummies are against the building of the wall (guessing it’s dummies), is because there is Manuel Labor involved. Can’t be having Manuel doing any labor, now, can we?
that makes me think the poll is real and not stacked
Was it not Rush, who was invited, and attended, along with Chuck U. Schumer and other amnesty elites, a meeting so as to use his show to move the amnesty question along?
“Strong conservatism does not want to spend the money but do it with other means less expensive. “
But Mexico is going to pay for it ;)
