After Donald Trump won despite losing the popular vote count, liberals everywhere were (once again) demanding an end to the electoral college. Most of it was all talk. After all, how can we possibly change a system that has worked for over 200 years?
Well, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) has taken the next step: She is introducing a bill to put an end to the electoral college once and for all.
"In my lifetime, I have seen two elections where the winner of the general election did not win the popular vote," said Senator Boxer on her Senate website. "When all the ballots are counted, Hillary Clinton will have won the popular vote by a margin that could exceed two million votes, and she is on track to have received more votes than any other presidential candidate in history except Barack Obama. This is the only office in the land where you can get more votes and still lose the presidency. The Electoral College is an outdated, undemocratic system that does not reflect our modern society, and it needs to change immediately. Every American should be guaranteed that their vote counts."
While Trump tweeted in 2012 that the electoral college system is a "disaster," he said on Monday that the system, put in place by our Founding Fathers, is fair because it compels presidential candidates to visit smaller states that would otherwise be ignored.
Boxer is expected to put forward her legislation as the Senate convenes on Tuesday.
So much for that oath to uphold the Constitution...but it’s not the first time for this old hag.
TERM LIMITS!!!!
This only serves to prove that Barbara Boxer is not smart enough and not educated enough to be in any elected position to make decisions for this country or anything else.
Typical clueless Democrat.
Go Trump!
So she needs 2/3 of the votes to send this out to the states, which would need 3/4 to approve.
I’m sure that will work out well.
Psst... No one tell Babs it’ll take a Constitutional Amendment... Let her find out later...
Wouldn’t it take a constitutional amendment, not just a law passed by congress?
Haven’t heard from the Boxer in a long time. Bad eye job, by the way. Did she win reelection? what might her status be that we still have to put up with her.
The fact that she thinks a normal bill will change the Constitution should frighten me, but I’ve come to expect a lack of knowledge.
A bill? It’s got to be an amendment, Babs.
When did you last read the Constitution? (Have you ever read it?)
Then vote fraud can win!
A bill won’t do it. You can’t change the Constitution with a bill.
She failed at nationalizing the oil companies too.
She wins like Hillary.
Article II of the Constitution.......
It would take a Constitutional Convention to amend, I believe...
Boxer is blowing smoke...
You can pass state laws that designate how electors are apportioned. But the EC is here to stay.
They hate the Constitution. That's why they want to change it or get rid of it.
Ya can’t end it with a bill, dingbat!
Maybe you should ask Obama to end it with an executive order.
Maybe end it with budget reconciliation.
Maybe just deem it ended.
Or maybe just jump up and down and scream and spin in circles until someone gives you a lollipop.
Obviously.
Maybe she could share a room with Pelosi in the nut house.
Peeing into a hurricane.
Haha. Good luck with that. Electoral college is the backbone of our sovereign state system. Babs is going to have fun corralling 2/3 house from her abysmal minority position and even more fun convincing 3/4 US states to vote their power away to liberal California, New York and Massachusetts. This maneuver on her part is just to appease those willfully stupid that support her. She knows there is no chance in hell...kindof like repealing Obamacare with Obama at the helm, only far less likely.
