"Drill, baby, drill!
During her bid for vice president in 2008, that was Sarah Palin's crowd-pleasing chant promoting her energy policy. Now the pithy catchphrase and the former Alaska governor herself could make a comeback.
News reports say Palin is on President-elect Donald Trump's short list to head the Interior Department. As secretary of the interior, she'd be in charge of overseeing oil drilling, uranium mining and other energy extraction on 500 million acres of public land, including iconic national parks like the Grand Canyon.
The pro-mining policies Trump and Palin could be expected to bring to Interior would mean EWG and other public land advocates would have to resume a fight we thought the Obama administration settled in 2012.
Under President George W. Bush, the Interior Department tried to open up uranium mines near the south rim of the Canyon. It was a scheme that even The Arizona Republic, once a champion of the so-called Wise Use movement, denounced.
If Trump does make moves to open up uranium mining around the Grand Canyon, Palin wouldn't stand in his way, judging from her quip in 2011 about opening the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling: If a caribou needs to be sacrificed for the sake of energy independence, I say, Mr. Caribou, maybe you need to take one for the team.
In a few months, she could be leading the team.

Revenge is a dish best served cold.
In this case a dish from Alaska!
Agree, Palin once again breaking the glass ceiling.
Pray America woke
“Hope all 4 walls are covered with dead things. ;)”
Has anyone ever sent the head of a jackass to a taxidermist?
Now that would be fun to have on the wall.
yes. outdoors, oil, resources. perfect for her.
You know I was being sarcastic, right? The feminists are going to eviscerate her like they did when she was the VP candidate.
Take the f out of batf.
Have the background checks done by the (renovated) f b I.
>>> how bout taking the bat out as well. feds regulating alchohol, and tobacco? too weird for me.
you are so right
I can think of only two legitimate DOE activities.
One is the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, which should be Dept of Interior.
The other is Nuclear Weapons development which is a Dept of War function.>>> think all nuclear belongs under defense. There would not have been any leaks over the years.
HAHA! Now THAT would be awesome!
Get back on the Trump Train.
It's over 9000!
This would be a thing of beauty if it happened. But Id be shocked if Sarah Palin was willing to move to D.C., so I rate it unlikely.>>> phone conference meetings with the suits. Live in nevada or one of the states most oppressed by interior dept.
“I was not fond of Sarah, I do not know why”
I know why. It was the incessant drum beat of attacks on Sarah from the left and right. Until Donald Trump came along, no politician in living memory was so feared and hated by the enemies of the republic.
They did everything within their considerable powers to destroy her, and they almost succeeded. Its a testament to her strength of character that she’s still standing after such an unprecedented assault against her, and her family.
Sounds to me like you were swayed by the lynch mob. What a shame. She’s one of the finest, most capable people in our camp.
No, the mob did not sway me, it was observation. I do think she would be great for that job hands down.
That was eight or more years ago when she ran, many things have changed.
Horrors!!
She thinks a bear is a top of the line predator with two constellations named after it, not a hairy gay guy.
She thinks a cougar is a top line feline predator, not a sexy older lady. No constellations for either.
I won't get into what she thinks a fox is.
Doesn't need to know about Vulpecula, little fox. Anthony Winer is probably sexting her, it's an issue for Justice.
If that happened, there'd be a lot less govt people hanging around in northern VA. And if that happened, VA might revert to a red state in 2020.
I don't have a problem with her comms. If I did, she's worth a push of the mute button for a man of certain age.
