California and Trump are on a collision course over immigrants here illegally

California is quickly becoming a battleground for immigration policy as a cross-section of leaders across the state vowed to fight any plans by President-elect Donald Trump to deport thousands of people in the U.S. illegally.

Trump said during the presidential campaign that he’ll build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border and deport people in the country illegally. He is expected to unwind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, an initiative by President Obama that protects immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children.

California has some of the nation’s most liberal policies when it comes to handling immigrants here illegally. The state has allowed them to get driver’s licenses, health coverage for children and in-state tuition. Institutions like churches also support immigrants.

But the Golden State could be on a collision course with Trump if he pushes hard-line immigration policies enthusiastically backed by many of his supporters.

Even better is to let each county decide. That means only a few coastal counties would secede. The rest of California would gladly say “bye”.

Just as most of Illinois would gladly say “bye” to the three or so counties that comprise “Chicagoland”.

Oh, I figured you were in jest, but there actually has been some serious discussion on the topic of creating an East and West California, so I thought I’d bring that in with the election map.

I’m old fashioned, I still prefer Illegal Aliens over Illegal immigrants.

If people come thru your front door uninvited you do NOT call them undocumented visitors; but home invaders.

Why do we NOT do the same for those who SNEAK into our country to lay their eggs in our nest??

The most-neutral and thus most-accurate term is "illegal alien."

No; it is NOT!

CA pays more in Federal income taxes than Federal dollars they receive.

Which state(s) don't?

Why is “aliens” not P.C. anymore?

Don't worry; it is.

What AIN'T so hot anymore is P.C. itself!!!

I think that even the sea creatures that were too dumb to avoid Bikini Atoll would steer well clear of the CalTanic.

Once the illegal aliens are deported California will at worst be a purple state. Eliminate motor voter, same day registration, require proof of citizenship for registration, and require voter ID at the the polls. Remove federal court jurisdiction over the issue and most of the democrat majority will disappear.

California actually sent more tax money to other states via the federal government then the other way around.

If I remember correctly, the DOJ sued Arizona, and won, on the principal that the Federal government has exclusive dominion of immigration law.
And the left/media spent a couple of months hammering that point home.
CA can bluster all they want, but they cannot stop the Feds from implementing immigration policy as they see fit.

Still...not tired of winning.

It’s valuable real estate I’d rather not give up without a fight.

Exactly. I weep for the state where I was born. It's beautiful golden hills and dramatic coastlines. It's ranches and strawberry fields. There is no other place like it. It's the people who suck and it's government is the reason I left. That place needs a gigantic enema. Then and only then would the productive consider moving back.

alifornia is quickly becoming a battleground for immigration policy as a cross-section of leaders across the state vowed to fight any plans by President-elect Donald Trump to deport thousands of people in the U.S. illegally.

THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN SETTLED BY ARIZONA V. UNITED STATES..........No. 11–182. Argued April 25, 2012—Decided June 25, 2012............

The National Government has significant power to regulate immigration. With power comes responsibility, and the sound exercise of national power over immigration depends on the Nation’s meeting its responsibility to base its laws on a political will informed by searching, thoughtful, rational civic discourse. Arizona may have understandable frustrations with the problems caused by illegal immigration while that process continues, but the State may not pursue policies that undermine federal law.

Now it is time to reinforce what has already been directed to the State of ARIZONA - SUCK IT UP CALIFORNIA AND GET READY FOR ARRESTS AND DEPORTATIONS UNDER A NEW PRES TRUMP.

The Left's hypocrisy knows no bounds, does it.

I would venture a guess that in the next couple of years we are going to see who MEXIFORNIA really belongs to in 2017 - the United States or Mexico. Where is Mexifornia's allegiance to?
