Ohio Gov. John Kasich's apparent plans to quickly insert his voice into the recrafting of the Republican Party have been scuttled.
Kasich had planned to speak Thursday at the American Enterprise Institute, a public policy think tank, in Washington D.C., sources close to the governor said Tuesday.
But, the speech was canceled today in the wake of President-Elect Donald Trump's upset victory over Democrat Hillary Clinton, a source said.

I voted for Joe Scarborough ....... twice................
I agree he needs to go...but what does that tell you???...cancelling a party speech because your party WON the most biggest election in the world?
Hit the road, John, and don’t ya come back no more, no more, no more, no more...
Interesting post. Thanks.
Kasich is a weasel. I hope Trump ignores him.
John Kasich is a self-important dirtbag. Scum of the earth.
Looks like your "n" key is a bit sticky..
Ha ha! Things like this just tickle me.
Now is the time to purge the GOP of the #NeverTrump faction.
I wondered, with amusement, if Kasich might be rethinking his planned speech after it was obvious Trump would win.
Like victory?
The folks at NR are in a similar state of disbelief - "how does the party recover from this Trump debacle and get back to its roots?" Well...those stories probably ought to have stayed in the can until this morning at least. Now their authors just look as stupid as Kasich.
What did Kasich mean by this? Here's an example in the rest of that sentence:
...the things Trump stands for, such as his stances against free trade, immigration and reaching out to minorities.
Those turned out either to be winning positions or ridiculous misstatements of Trump's positions. There isn't much wrong with his outreach to the various minorities, for example, who saw through the fog of disinformation in Kasich's mouth and those of the various media celebrities and voted for him anyway. And Kasich might consider that that stand "against free trade" was just a little more nuanced and attractive than this curt, inaccurate, and dismissive formulation. Something to think about over the next four years, at least.
The fact is, they got it wrong and now they look like fools. Perhaps that might have been one reason they've been doing so much losing lately? Because they lost once again last night, and it's pretty embarrassing.
They were like the Scottish noblemen who abandoned William Wallace on the field of battle in "Braveheart."
John, you better hurry back from Mars before you run out of air. And once back, may I suggest you look into a new career at the USPS? You might even have an inside track for the job if a couple of your dad’s cronys are still there who remember him.
Not easy admitting that you stepped in it twice and have to clean it up now. I did the same thing too.
loser
He was a ‘local boy does good’ type, here.........
