Man must pay $1M restitution for cutting hose during Baltimore riots
Fox news ^ | November 4, 2016

A man who pleaded guilty to puncturing a fire hose being used during the riots in Baltimore last year has been ordered to pay $1 million in restitution.

Twenty-two-year-old Gregory Lee Butler Jr., also known as Greg Baly, was ordered to serve three years of probation and to perform 250 hours of community service. The Baltimore Sun reported that the government sought a 33-month prison sentence.

U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz also sentenced Butler to time served on Thursday. Prosecutors say Butler twice punctured a fire hose as firefighters were battling an arson blaze at a CVS drug store on April 27, 2015.

“$1 million fine and yet Hillary lies to the FBI 39 times, destroys government property and is allowed to run for the office of President.”

I agree entirely. This is a 22 y.o. who obviously has his head up his butt, but he isn't responsible for a small fraction of the things the Clintons have done and gotten away with. I say prison is a waste for this guy. If rehabilitation is the objective for relatively non-violent offenders, I would take someone like this and ship them off to do physical labor on a farm, or something along those lines - pay him a small salary that went into an account that he could not touch other than to buy food and pay rent, and require him to so community service as well.

These idiots get caught up in the moment and start to think they’re invisible, and that there will be no consequences to their criminality. It’s good to see justice catch up with them.

Yes it is good to see justice done.

Yep a mob might think they are invisible.

This reminds me of the Baltimore mother, who saw her son rioting on TV. She went right down to the riots and pulled her son out of there, and gave him a motherly scolding. I haven’t heard, but hope he’s stayed out of trouble since.

It’s a start.
The SJW groups like BLM that sponsor these riots need to be held financially responsible for every penny of property damage that results.

Perhaps the groups should be required to post a bond before getting a protest permit.

It’s $1,000,000.00 restitution; he has to pay CVS for the portion of the damage his actions caused. Dindu Nuffin will pay that out of pocket change.

It’s a civil judgment that’s in effect for at least 20 years. It cannot be discharged in bankruptcy and the DOJ has same tools to collect as the IRS. The federal government can garnish 25 percent of this guys [legal] wages and lien any property he has.

I have a client with one of these judgments against him, and the DOJ is very aggressive about collecting. I doubt they will be so aggressive in this guy’s case, but they’ve given him zero incentive to get a straight job and get his life together.

Can’t be put back in prison for failure to pay restitution, unless you commit another criminal act to conceal assets. Several banksters managed to stall out on paying restitution until W gave them a pardon that wiped out the restitution requirement, at which point they and their family could enjoy the ill gotten gains.

It may be a few years, but he’s in line for a pardon and job in a democrat administration. They may even put him in charge of counting the votes.
