I thought it might be interesting to have a thread for Freepers to post their early voting experiences, as well as any turnout reports from their location.
I’m in Texas and voted on Monday. Long line and was getting longer when I left. Moved quickly. Chatted with people in line, they were all Trump supporters. A couple of ladies said their church is having a day of fasting either the day before the election or the day of, I can’t remember. I voted straight republican ticket, checked and double-checked that there was no funny business going on, and cast my ballot.
Not D +6 in TX.
Of course we don’t know yet how people voted but anecdotally, its becoming clear D turnout isn’t yet approaching that seen in 2012.
Which favors Trump.
Houston-Harris County TX is reporting record turnouts.
Voted early in Beverly MA. Its for a couple weeks at one place only, city hall. Several people there, about 10 am.
Instead of by street, they have lists by name so you give your name (ID? Of course not...) then address. Your name is crossed off and they give you a ballot and an envelope. When done voting you put the ballot into the sealed envelope and write name and address (print and sign name on it) and the ballot envelope gets inserted etc.
Trump & Pence, Manning-Martin for Sheriff (MA Essex County)..and I blanked unopposed US Rep Moulton (D).
I early voted in King Co, (Seattle area) WA. I dropped my ballot off in a double sealed envelope in the official large and very heavy metal ballot box at the library. The ballot will go to a room surrounded by glass and walkways to view. No internet connection is allowed with the room. Since the Governorship was stolen a few years back (by the dems of course), They changed how they do things here now.
I have no sources for this at hand, but, Twitter postings indicate that FL is looking good for Trump. Early voting started there Monday also. ANYONE have any reports from FL?
Oh yes, I meant to also say that I asked the lady there who was in charge of the machines if there had been any problems with voting straight Republican ticket and Trump’s name then being “un-checked”. She said they use different machines here in Tyler, and that there had been no problems here, and that she felt there had been some mis-reporting on the issue. She also said that, if needed, she can easily re-calibrate the machines in a matter of minutes.
So, I voted straight Republican ticket and no problems at all. The machine seemed to work perfectly, with all the Republicans with check marks by their names.
Most people there looked to me like Trump voters. Yes, I profiled!
King County will go Hillary.
It would be interesting to compare D turnout there compared to four years ago.
I voted in Downtown Cincy, OH (Hamilton Cty) Monday. In OH you have to vote at your Cty Board of Elections, so one location per county. Steady flow not crowded, went in and out no wait. ID required, gave him my Concealed Carry ID w/ photo and that was cool with him, he did not say a thing. Fair number of people there. Mostly folks that work downtown after work. I got a parking meter spot with ease with 10 min left on the meter. gave it .25 for another 10, cam e back w/ 5 min left.
Paper ballot into envelope, then into lock box to get scanned election day.
No campaigners outside, except a Trump dude, with a lock her up sign. Gave him a fist bump.
No heavy turnout from the usual areas?
Not looking like D +6 in what is a D stronghold in OH.
Early voting OH down, especially since you have to consider that in 2012 early voting had an extra week, so Ds should be scampering to make it up. Instead, less than heavy turnout (meaning they are way behind).
Interesting. I’m kind of proud of the way TX is handling voting. They actually have a computer set up with a card scanner, which they use to scan your Driver’s License. At my polling location, I presented my Driver’s License and voter registration card to the official. She scanned my license, which did not work, due to the data strip on the back being chewed up from being rather old and constantly in my wallet. She then looked me up from my license number. The machine then printed out a strip of paper with my precinct info on it, which I then took to the voting are and presented to the official there. Then, that official took me to a machine and input my precinct. Overall, very impressive.
I live in a REDDDDDDDD county in Georgia.
Haven’t voted yet. Everyone I talk to, even those who are not fans of Trump, are voting Trump!
We are united in our seething hatred of Hillary.
Voted in southern Indiana today. Clerk said voters were about twice in previous elections.
Noticed on the application for an early vote that last four numbers of SS were asked for also a phone number to reach voter
Talked to head of vote division to see if this was new. It’s been there at least two years. SS is not required but it does trigger a second look if left blank The phone number is used if there is a question about application etc. (College students - military ). Sometimes they leave something out that’s required etc so in a way they have invalidated their own ballots.
We have NONE of the questionable registration in our county. (We were one of the few counties who got a certain voting system decertified Yay for our team!)
I voted yesterday no line it machines were all in use
Whip I was voting a pretty good line formed
My wife went the second day and the line was half an hour long
I’ll be voting early in VA. Probably shortly after 7am on November 8th. Will let you know how it goes.
Kansas yesterday - steady turnout. I observed no millennials and few minorities. Mostly white people in their 50’s. or older.
I just voted in West Palm Beach, Florida (about 1/2 mile from the first tee at Trump’s Golf and Country Club). About 50 people in the line for processing and an equal amount actually voting. BIG Trump display and about a dozen volunteers outside the exclusion zone including a video paneled RV with lots of Trump electronic messaging. Four Hillary volunteers sitting under an awning waiting for supporters - none.
Completed the “name, address and DoB” form prior to entering. When my turn came to sit with the registrar, produced a drivers license to prove identity and address. I had my voter registration card handy, but Drivers License sufficed. Was issued a paper ballot to “connect the arrows” BY HAND. Nothing ambiguous about it. Afetr completing the ballot, I was directed to the scanner to record my vote(s). I asked for, and was given a receipt for my ballot. No problems.
I lived in Beverly for six years, off Cabot St and always voted at the Library. Been in SC since March, couldn’t hack another New England winter!
The things I miss are cheesesteaks from Super Subs, burritos from La Victoria Taqueria and vodka tonics from the Anchor, served in pint glasses and so stiff the first sip makes you shudder...lol
