A duck is one of the last animals you would expect to find on an aeroplane flight, not least because they have wings and can fly wherever they like free of charge.

However, this bird provides a special service - it is an emotional support duck for a passenger who is worried about flying.

You show your bias.

Or my logic...or my firm grip on reality.

Stupidest crap I ever heard of.

Wring the damned thing's neck, pull the feathers off, gut it and roast it.

Feed the leftovers to your Pit Bull.

Emotional Support Duck...my ass.

Regardless of how crazy this story is, I do like that picture of the duck looking out the window at 35,000 feet.

Hey, I knew that duck's cousin. He was great with wild rice stuffed up his butt, then hickory-smoked with a good apricot glaze.......

While holding snakes will relax you to the point of dozing off, I would not recommend them as “therapy animals” outside the house.

Too much baggage.

A duck?

WTF?

Have some hickory smoked duck and you win the NFC North, I always say.

Other than giving its diaper a lot of use and being generally filthy, what does that live duck do that a soft plush duck doll couldn’t?

“its not the flight that is scary
its the pre-flight police state groping”

Ha! That’s exactly what my son said when I took him to the airport yesterday morning.

“Well, I guess I’m ready for my state sponsored groping”.

I am in recovery from PTSD, gained as a result of an abusive marriage. Trauma is as physical a debilitation as cancer — it changes hormones, blood flow, and electrical circuits in the victim’s brain. Combat-related PTSD has been studied more extensively than other types. There is a difference between trauma at the hands of an avowed enemy and trauma at the hands of someone you’ve been married to for 20 years. You sound like someone who’s never been locked in a house by a spouse holding a shot gun on you for several hours who goes to work the next day, “no harm done.” Drugs have been shown only to control symptoms; animals have been shown to help heal the cause. I’m willing to give the guy a break - fur allergies maybe? Plus mallards are wonderful.

A dog helping a blind or deaf person is absolutely OK.Not just OK...excellent.The issue is "emotional support".As someone else mentioned in this thread get yourself a soft cuddly toy duck...or dog...or hippo.Give it a great big hug whenever you feel sad or frightened.

But keep your filthy damn duck off of aircraft in which I ride.

Ah, sorry, not doing that. Friends in common still defend her, however foolishly.
