HOW BIG IS ONE?

As a man walked a desolate beach one cold, gray morning he began to see another figure, far in the distance. Slowly the two approached each other, and he could make out a local native who kept leaning down, picking something up and throwing it out into the water. Time and again he hurled things into the ocean.

As the distance between them continued to narrow, the man could see that the native was picking up starfish that had been washed upon the beach and, one at a time, was throwing them back into the water.

Puzzled, the man approached the native and asked what he was doing. "I'm throwing these starfish back into the ocean. You see, it's low tide right now and all of these starfish have been washed up onto the shore. If I don't throw them back into the sea, they'll die up here from lack of oxygen."

"But there must be thousands of starfish on this beach," the man replied. "You can't possibly get to all of them. There are just too many. And this same thing is probably happening on hundreds of beaches all up and down this coast. Can't you see that you can't possibly make a difference?"

The local native smiled, bent down and picked up another starfish, and as he threw it back into the sea he replied, "Made a difference to that one!"

Each of us is but one person: limited, burdened with our own cares and responsibilities. We may feel there is so much to be done, and we have so little to give. We're usually short of everything, especially time and money. When we leave this shore, there will still be millions of starfish stranded on the beach. Maybe we can't change the whole world, but there isn't one of us who can't help change one person's whole world. One at a time. We can make a difference.

One at a time. We can make a difference.

Make sure you give Hubby a “hint” about getting your own big-screen TV for your retirement gift so you can stream some movies and videos :-)

Not able to finish anything, but not bad. Today and this evening, especially about an hour ago, we are “fighting” all the folks in white who are up in the trees, front and back. No one front or back in white in the trees, BUT the suggestion that I’m the one having hallucinations. *sigh* I have walked away from multiple “issues” today.

Say, that’s not a bad idea! Not sure where I’d put it though! Besides he would probably just confiscate it from me. LOL!

You do normally work Saturdays, don’t you? Bet it WAS nice to have a Sat. off for a change!

Yes, several stopped by to admire Baby and chat a bit. And there were plenty of cars that I wandered around and admired too. It was scheduled until 8 but I left at 6 to come home and feed and medicate kittehs.

Took a quick peek at the video and will go back to watch the whole thing. Screen cap opportunities! He had a time wrestling with that stick, didn’t he? LOL!
I didn’t know the cam was running. Last time I checked on it, it was offline. I’ll have to remember to keep tabs on it again.

I just got a couple of texts with videos from my niece in Tacoma. The first one was heavy winds, the second the rain coming sideways to the house.

A Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.

Stay safe!! Glad your power came on in time for coffee. LOL!

Oh, so now YOU’RE the one having hallucinations, huh? Because you DIDN’T see the folks in white who are up in the trees? Well isn’t that just wunnerful?
You really do have your hands full with your mom. :-( Sometimes all you CAN do is walk away.

At least you were able to get some stuff dealt with, even though they weren’t completed.

I think they went live on the 9th of October or thereabouts. Up till the last 2-3 days, they haven’t spent much time there, but it’s rail-building time now!

Glad you enjoyed the show. I love to drool over great classic cars. But it makes me want one! Especially the ‘57 Chevys or the 1974 1/2 Mustangs or the early Thunderbirds. Yum!

I didn’t know when they’d go live again. Thought it might be a bit later. I’ve put the link back in Favorites for easy access. It’s neat to keep tabs the weather changes, even when the birds aren’t around at the time. Some of the white stork nest cams in Hungary run year-round and I check on them periodically. Really pretty views when it snows.

We went to very few shows or cruise-ins this year because it was so hot. Just can’t handle sitting in the heat for hours and hours like we used to.
But drooling over the beauties is what it’s about. LOL! I still drool over them, even though I have one now. The classics had style, which is sorely lacking in cars made today.

Amazing Grace
(Click)

By John Newton

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.
