We must choose a Christian to revitalize America (Stop letting media choose our nominees!)

Posted on 10/10/2016 9:40:44 AM PDT by dangus

Look, I'm still voting for Trump. The alternative is just too damned horrifying. And like Churchill said, "Do not hesitate to raise up a flawed man if the circumstances require it."

But consider this: These Trump tapes weren't recently leaked or discovered. The networks have been sitting on them since the primaries. They could've knocked Trump flying back in 2015 if they had wanted to, but they didn't. Can anyone reasonably deny that?

So why didn't they want to? Because they knew they had dirt on him, and they saw him as the easiest way to make sure Clinton was elected president. It's kind of odd how powerful to the "Christian Right" Matt Drudge, the National Enquirer and Milo Yiannopoulos are.

I sure will pray for Trump. He's far from irredeemable. I don't give a crap about "2 Corinthians;" what suggested he was alien to Christianity was his assertion that he had nothing to be forgiven for. Maybe now he understands that he does. I'm very much a big believer in forgiveness and redemption.

I admire that Trump immediately acknowledged and apologized for his conduct on the tape, in contrast to the Clintons conducting weeks-long investigations to figure out how they can limit and spin their crimes.

But at the same time, I believe America needs leaders who can call the nation to renewal and humility before God. But in the meantime, I'll urgently accept the man who holds off Roman or Soviet style persecution.

Voters screened through several “Christians” this time, but did not give that a high priority.

Santorum, Huckabee, Cruz, Bush among a few of the “Christians.”

GW Bush and Jimmy Carter were “Christians.”

I’m not sure that Donald OUGHT to be hawking his status as a Christian in a political sphere. That would be to walk into a sanctimony trap. And it looks like you are being disingenuous by raising the “before or after” question which obviously has an “after” answer. One repents AFTER sinning.

I saw something (article? leaked email?) where the Clinton campaign wanted a ‘populist’ candidate like Trump or Carson, not a politician, to win the nomination because they thought they would be easier to defeat .... you know, ILLary’s competence, experience, ability to regurgitate talking points, miles of airplane travel, etc. vs some political neophyte. I believe that is why tapes like what was released Friday, have not been used before now - Trump was expected to implode on his own long before October and the 2nd debate and he is only now seen as a legitimate threat (polls too close, etc.).

What they didn’t count on with Trump early on in the campaign is not only the rage of voters tired of RINO/GOPe milquetoasts-voter ignoring-Obama enablers, but that no other politician* on the Republican primary stage had/has the courage to do what Trump is doing, nor would they have if they ginned up a nad. This 2016 election would have been a “Romney rollover” repeat without Trump.

*Fellow non-politician Ben Carson might have the courage, but not the temperament or delivery of Trump to express it forcefully/effectively

So, no Christian man talks like that in private?

People are flawed and those who flaunt their “Christian”, as we have seen time and time again, are just as flawed as the rest of us if not more so. Virtually all politicians say they are Christian, so that puts people in the position of debating who is more Christian than the other person ... a no win argument as no one can be a definitive judge of that except God.

Also, we had a good Christian man as president. Jimmy Carter. He wasn’t very good as a President.

The only religion I remember Bush promoting was the Religion of Peace.

I think he was also on record as saying "all religions are a path to same God", or some such tommy-rot.

Churchill, whom you quoted was not much of a Christian. He was brought up in the Church of England, but was indifferent toward it and he never invoked the help of God in his speeches. And he was the greatest man of the 20th century.

Amen.

This is a huge problem with the type of individuals you are talking about. This scripture verse captures their attitudes in a nutshell:

Proverbs 30:12

12 There are those who are pure in their own eyes yet are not cleansed of their filthiness.

All things considered, I'd rather have an atheist than somebody who believes that.

Unless he or she is as spotless as our Savior, they will be torn down by the liberal press.

It is obvious to me that God’s hand is on Trump. God throughout history has used men that are not perfect to show that God is the one you should have your trust in.

You seem to think we are still a Christian nation...?

We have a veneer of one, underneath nothing of the sort...

Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior could run for POTUS and not win...

The media would call HIM too religious...

Trump is a Christian and it is a sin and a sanctimonious jerk to judge him otherwise.

America is a degraded country.

There are PLENTY of potential politicians who are not deeply corrupted, false and cynical as the Clintons, nor are they are tape talking about groping women. There are plenty of decent, humble Americans who would deal with the American people honestly.

But Americans would not vote for such a candidate.

If Christians are worried about voting for the person, then vote for what they stand for instead.

Trump stands for a well funded military , he's against Obama care, he's against Government over regulation, he's for school choice, he's for controlling the borders and will put an end to the flood of illegals invading our country.

Hillary? She stands for being an evil dictator.

A Christian like Churchill?

Did you ever read the man's biography?

We have not had a lifetime committed Christian in the White House since Calvin Coolidge or possibly even Rutherford B. Hayes.

While I might agree in principle, Christians who should know better were spewing childish name falling rhetoric in support of a foreign born globalist who embraced a theology that is seven parts Jehovah's Witness, two parts Benny Hinn, and one part David Koresh from the early days of this campaign. That has caused a lot of people here to look closely at any candidate somebody CLAIMS is Christian. Too many pretenders out there and too little discernment in promoting any and every candidate who asserts them-self to be what they often are not.
