WASHINGTON - The Pentagon is considering carrying out limited attacks in Syria that don't drag U.S. President Barack Obama to an embarrassing situation, along with several U.S. security bodies holding meetings since weeks to figure out a solution to the rising crisis in Aleppo amid potential U.S. attacks against the Syrian regime.
Officials in the Pentagon and the White House told Asharq al-Awsat newspaper that these airstrikes will not be disclosed and the U.S. won't claim them publicly.
Some analysts expressed concerns over the mounting tension between Russia and the U.S. as this might drift the Syrian war and spur a military conflict. However, the Pentagon source seems certain that a U.S. decisive military step can be taken without any risk or real danger.

Vietnam all over again
The nuclear war which results should be interesting.
For God’s sake let’s not embarrass our great and holier than thou pResident.
Understood. They won't after the fact IMHO; just one point against this "action".
What did Trump say? Sorry for not looking it up, but honestly his position on Syria is no longer clear to me, at the moment. Thanks!
It’s the Pentagon’s job to plan for this eventuality,
the president and congress are the ones to consider it.
At least in the America I grew up in.

Comparing George W Bush’s military service to Bill Clinton’s lack thereof does a great disservice to a large number of military veterans. Bush was an F-102 Air National Guard pilot. The fatality rate of F-102 pilots in training was higher than that of most military positions stationed in Vietnam. Bush volunteered for duty in Vietnam, but was turned down since the F-102 was not in use there. Bill Clinton was a draft dodger. You owe a whole lot of National Guard members an apology, in my opinion.
Madness.
“The Pentagon is considering carrying out limited attacks in Syria that don’t drag U.S. President Barack Obama to an embarrassing situation”
It’s not the purpose of the US military to spare Obama from embarrassing situations he got himself into.
And Vietnam started with “limited attacks.”
To game the Election they’re getting us into a quagmire with a nuclear power. But it’s alright, ultimately, it’s only the sons and duaghters of “deplorables” who pay for most if it.
“Are they nuts? Get out of Syria....period.”
No kidding.
Folks start loading containers with water, buy extra food, medicine, medical supplies, ammo and anything else you consider necessary to your survival...because the Ass-In-Chief is going to get us into a shooting war with the Russians. If that happens, it will go nuclear quickly.
No, I am not joking.
Don’t have time to post much here anymore.
If we choose this, we will be at war with Russia. I don’t get why we are trying to protect ISIS in Syria.
Interesting that the "Pentagon" is now originating orders to US troops, so Obama, our supposed CIC can remain "unembarrased".
Apparently the "Pentagon" has finally come to realize the great honor of participation in military action to bring about the World Caliphate.
Sure, it's great that they're there killing these ruthless barbarians. Problem is, what happens when they're done, if that ever happens. Russia will have gained an enormously important foothold in the highly strategic oil/gas-rich Middle East at a time when they're in the process of basically bringing back the Soviet Union. Now if we had a president who even liked our country, we may well have not have been in this 'rock and a hard place' position in the first place.
And it's not only Eastern Europe and the Middle East where they're expanding their influence, it's also Latin America, where they continue to this day arming and supporting hostile Marxist dictatorships.

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil -- Russia's push into Ukraine has put many on edge. But less known is that Russia is also strengthening its military links south of the Rio Grande and re-establishing itself as a power in the region.
Vladimir Putin has been strengthening military links here, and Russia is now the largest arms dealer to governments in Latin America, surpassing the United States.
Russia has even floated the possibility of building new military bases in Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, and putting its warships permanently in the Caribbean.
In the midst of the Ukraine crisis, Russia's top diplomat Sergei Lavrov recently visited Cuba, Peru, Chile, and Nicaragua, where he announced that Russia would also pour money into the new Central American canal project. ..."

Russia agreed to provide military training for three leftist regimes in Latin America and increase military visits and exercises following a visit last week to the region by Moscow's Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu, Pentagon officials said.
Shoygu met with defense and military leaders in Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua and signed several agreements on warship visits and military training during the visit, which ran from Feb. 11 to 14. It is not clear whether any new arms deals were completed during the visit.
Defense officials said the Russian leader is seeking bases in the region for strategic bomber flights that Shoygu recently promised would include flights over the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean.

At one time, that would be considered an act of war. Unless I missed the joint session of Congress passing a Resolution reading,” As of [a certain date] a State of War exists between the United States of America and the Nation of Syria”. Or words to that effect. Until the Constitution of the United States of America is declared and rendered null and void, obama cannot, on his own declare war. I understand that this hurts the feelings of the obama worshipers. I also know that hell will freeze over before Congress stands up to obama.
“Has Obama gone to congress for a declaration of war? No? His ninety days were up a couple years ago. No protests, nothing, no congressional outrage, no peaceniks, just nothing. Now hes pushing for a world war, for what? To cover his and Hillarys crime and the fact hes spent us into oblivion? We allowed ourselves to be taken over in a silent coup 8 years ago, and I dont think were coming back.”
You nailed it - Obama’s either dead set on getting Hillary elected, leaving this country in ruins or both.
As they do not interfere with Monday Night Football and March Maddness, America is ok.
I’m beyond believing this proxy war is driven simply by Saudi money and influence. They are using much greater leverage. OPEC, by it’s charter, sells only in US dollars. Hence, the US dollar, in theory, is backed by oil, because you can only buy oil from OPEC with US dollars. The US is nearing energy independence, we’re no longer a good customer, our only value to the Saudi’s is serving as their military. I think the Saudi’s are threatening to take OPEC off the US dollar standard, mwhich would utterly devastate the US dollar. Something other OPEC members, namely Iran, whole heartedly support.
The harridan becoming the president is pretty much a guarantee of ruin. 2 for 1 by the wun.
