WASHINGTON - The Pentagon is considering carrying out limited attacks in Syria that don't drag U.S. President Barack Obama to an embarrassing situation, along with several U.S. security bodies holding meetings since weeks to figure out a solution to the rising crisis in Aleppo amid potential U.S. attacks against the Syrian regime.
Officials in the Pentagon and the White House told Asharq al-Awsat newspaper that these airstrikes will not be disclosed and the U.S. won't claim them publicly.
Some analysts expressed concerns over the mounting tension between Russia and the U.S. as this might drift the Syrian war and spur a military conflict. However, the Pentagon source seems certain that a U.S. decisive military step can be taken without any risk or real danger.

Looks like they want to play the game Israel has played in Syria before and during the ‘civil war’.
Attacks that are secret and will not be publicly acknowledged.
Drones and cruise missiles I guess will be involved.
But are the Russians supposed to sit around and take it.
Maybe this is being leaked to spur the Russians to use more force in Aleppo now that will give their opponents ammunition in the propaganda war demonizing Assad and the Russians over their military activities in Aleppo.
If the Russians respond with open military action against our secret military action, they will demonized as the ‘aggressors’ and what happens after that?
Four possible reasons why Obama wants to take out a secular government in the Middle East even though it has determined support from Russia:
*
1. Wag the dog.
*
2. To help the Saudis with a natural gas pipeline

3. A hatred of Christians that runs fanatically deep.
*
4. A combination of 1, 2, and/or 3.
As an old Military guy, it seems to me that “Limited Air Strikes” against the Russian backed Assad regime is akin to a pin prick that could spark a potential superpower conflict. This is a risky business and I suggest we back off and let the Russians and Assad have Syria and let them deal with the Isis/Al Queda Terrorists on Syrian soil. They will have their hands full with the terrorists, Kurds and Turks. It is time to recognize that our policy in Syria has been a failure and it is time to pack up and be a spectator.
This is the same administration that only weeks ago was bragging about the peace deal it had brokered in Syria. A peace that was broken only days later by the same administration with a “mistaken” attack on Syrian troops.
Sort of like the man who scooped up the dog poop so he could show people what he almost stepped in.
“Limited military action” only remains “limited” so long as the other side wants it to remain so.
Has Obambino asked Vlad yet?
Beyond comprehension that Obama would risk such a massive escalation that could bring Russia Iran Turkey against the US over friggin’ Syria because he’s butthurt over Putin acting while he dithered.
Are they nuts? Get out of Syria....period.
Woah!!!
This would be idiocy.
Actually, this is idiocy. Now that it has been leaked, Putin will publicly threaten US if we do attack Assad, so Obama will back down.
All this over Muslims who want to kill us.
Assad is not Sunni
And blame the Pentagon as obviously conditions will worsen.
Theocracies are the crisis to figure out a solution to.
Obama, as he promised when he told the Russians that he would be more flexible in his 2nd term regarding missile defense and nukes, has already, for the most part, delivered the goods. Now that Putin has gotten what he wanted from the willing saboteur he has effectively told him to go screw yourself and get out of my way.
And not only did Obama give away the store to Putin on missile defense and nukes, including the very dangerous Iranian nuke deal, which Putin loves and claims to have played a major role in, he basically dismantled our military.
Make no mistake, all of this was *by design*. Not the result of "incompetence", "naivete", or "inexperience". The O administration, and the hard left in general, (obviously) hates America and wants to knock it off its pedestal as leader of the free world.
Trumps VP pick, Mike Pence, made it crystal clear in the recent (first) debate that he fully understands the situation in regards to Putin and his larger, expansionist agenda there and in Eastern Europe. He was an excellent selection for VP. Exactly the sort of wise, intelligent, sober person Trump needed on his team. His remarks on Putin are contained in the transcript of the debate, which I've already downloaded.
You’re exactly right. Instead of ABSOLUTELY taking out Pearl and effectively pushing America back to Calif. limited their action to reserve their forces. Worked real good...
Donald Trump slammed President Obama Thursday on TODAY for failing to take a stronger line against President Vladimir Putin in dealing with Ukraine, saying he feared Obama would now make up for lost time with imprudent moves to "show his manhood."
The real estate mogul and reality-TV star, who has criticized Putin for sending military troops into Crimea, said Obama must now take fierce steps to prevent the situation from escalating further.
"We should definitely do sanctions and we have to show some strengths. I mean, Putin has eaten Obama's lunch, therefore our lunch, for a long period of time," Trump said. ..."
