Hurricane Matthew is big, bad and just downright scary, with iminent and sustained impacts to U.S. mainland. Florida Governor Rick Scott issued a state of emergency for all of Florida and disaster operations are activated. More than 1.5 million Floridians reside in current evacuation zones. Governor Scott has spoken with utilities across the state to ensure utilities are pre-positioned and there are no unmet needs. Multiple coastal hospitals have been evacuated. Meanwhile, feckless President Barack Hussein Obama is personally monitoring the progress of the storm.

Wow—what hyperbole appears to have been broadcast leading up to its approach—thankfully it looks like Florida and east coast have lucked out, thank God!
More like good fortune than hyperbole. If Matthew had just been a few miles to the West it would have been catastrophic.
Thanks - I did check their website. They just say that even though Matthew’s path has changed, we still need to prepare.
I guess that means it was a legit call. I also know of others in my area who received the same call.
The unnecessary evacuation drill is a part of living in hurricane alley.
When the storm goes somewhere else or isn’t as strong isn’t a reason to bitch about unnecessary trouble when you scrammed inland.
It’s a reason to thank God for sparing you this time.
Unfortunately people get complacent.
People on the MS Gulf coast got complacent after a few false alarms and drowned when the real thing materialized in Katrina. Or were trapped down there in mad max hell with no power, damaged homes and enough mosquitos to transfuse the whole nation with a brand new blood supply.
The Katrina hype wasn’t any different than that from previous storms. Just that it came true that time.
It’s the old ‘offense only has to be lucky once, defense has to be lucky every single time’ adage.
Atlantic coast of FL caught a huge break this time.
Poor dogs.
>>Atlantic coast of FL caught a huge break this time.
They aren’t out of the woods yet. The eyewall could still meander onshore at Daytona or Jax.
True. But it’s not the cat4+ they initially feared.
And for that they should be on their knees thanking God.
Blowing steady gale force here in Seminole County...pruning the trees here pretty well.
We live in Jacksonville. Very thankful the eye of the storm is staying off shore.
Vote Trump 2016
“The two primary models, the GFS and the Euro, show the eye going right up the coastline. Once again, please save your downcasting and media bashing for another day. Matthew appears to be bombing out with a massive pressure drop and this will, in all likelihood, be a extremely serious matter.”
LOL, We don’t need you fear mongering Pennsylvania Junior Meteorologists here in Florida.
During Sandy we had nitwits like you downcasting the storm and saying the danger was hyped. All Sandy did was cause over 50 billion in damage and 147 deaths.
You downcasters all sprain your shoulders patting yourselves on the back when there is a fortunate shift in the forecast track - something I was very glad to see - I would rather have morons like you berate me than see a major disaster unfold. But you are nowhere to be found when the dangers materialize as forecast. So go p*** up a rope.
Just keep posting Dirtboy......we’re watching and paying attention......y family in Jacksonville says exactly as you stated...it’s wobbling and even a few miles can make a huge difference on what they’ll get there.
That picture looks like a block from my sister’s house. I’m very relieved that they bugged out.
He’s doing just fine.....I too have family in Florida who have a tendency to down play this storm because Floridians are accustomed to hearing these reports so often during a storm......that does not change the dangers of what this storm can do nor how it can shift.
I think each person has to determine if or not they leave....surely those on beaches should not be there.....my family’s hunkered down but in a good place...20 years there they are well prepared and know what to expect.
