Hurricane Matthew Live Thread II
NOAA/NHC ^ | October 6 2016 | NOAA/NHC

Posted on 10/06/2016 4:10:09 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Hurricane Matthew is big, bad and just downright scary, with iminent and sustained impacts to U.S. mainland. Florida Governor Rick Scott issued a state of emergency for all of Florida and disaster operations are activated. More than 1.5 million Floridians reside in current evacuation zones. Governor Scott has spoken with utilities across the state to ensure utilities are pre-positioned and there are no unmet needs. Multiple coastal hospitals have been evacuated. Meanwhile, feckless President Barack Hussein Obama is personally monitoring the progress of the storm.

It’s usually Pike Electric out of Mt. Airy that comes to the rescue here in a storm.

Pike has one hell of an Army.

I was coming in from Wilmington after two days at the port last winter. The ice storm hit south. Laurinburg was a mess.

They had at least 6 big buckets rolling east on 74 as I slowly made my way back to CLT.

They do a fine job, no complaints here.

Yes, I remember Fran - but we had 80 MPH winds plus the possibility of a tornado in the Raleigh area.

I had a pine tree come down across my driveway but it missed the house. Definitely lost power but our great power guys got it restored in just one day.

And, yes, those pines can come down in lower winds than 80 MPH ..... I just hope I don’t lose any more because they will hit the house this time - that’s all that’s left (ones that will hit the house if they fall).

Keeping fingers crossed.

Sorry that would be 64. When I made it to 485 one lane was open in the middle.

Saturated ground would be behind trees coming down in less than hurricane force winds, so hope that the heaviest rain doesn’t set in before the wind hits.

If you get the rain, notice the difference. Tropical Bands are much different than a front from Kentucky.

Son of a Gun!

(nope just plain ol Bush Pinto w Bacon)

Women can alter their face with paint and lashes, they can accessorize and adapt clothing for the most dramatic effects.

Men have skills too!
Tabasco and Sriracha sauce fixes a bunch o stuff.
If there was a woman around I’d probably have Real Bacon to go with my beans but I will enjoy these.
(seems women want you in the same room as them so they can Talk while you eat just cause they cooked for you... that just takes the “G” outta Joy)

Yes, I am praying the saturated ground does not happen before the winds hit.

Down East - Cumberland County, for instance - had major rains, flooding last week so they are likely in for bad stuff from Matthew. Prayers for them and for all those in the path of Matthew in all the East Coast, but especially since I am here - for NC.

We have light rain here right now - but it’s not from Matthew yet. I will pay attention to the tropical nature of the rain tomorrow.....thanks for the advice.

You are up late and should probably get some rest.

The storm will affect the Grand Strand in the afternoon.

We will be ready. We have a couple on guard in Columbia.

I will watch the RTP along with my buds in various areas.

Lets hope we do not need to go.
