Tulsa County DA: Charges of manslaughter in 1st degree will be filed against Officer Betty Shelby.
....” I suspect she got scared and adrenaline took over.”....
My first thought too....but you could never pay me enough to be a police officer in todays world....never!
“This was an open and shut case.”
I don’t know what everyone else around here observed but I watched the video several times and cannot determine if the shoot was justified or not. It looked like the man was disregarding instructions and chose to walk back to his vehicle and attempted to reach inside. I could not determine from the video if the window was opened or closed. Also, it looked to me like he reached in his pocket.
Is there another video, that I haven’t seen, with clear audio and video that provides a more conclusive evaluation of the incident?
“We’re in a heap of trouble, Tonto!”
Tonto’s nervous reply, “Uhh...who do you mean we, pale-face?”
You're probably right, sigh.

IN this case, she shouldn’t have even attempted to shoot to wound.
I’m not sure why she shot at all.
If she had her gun drawn, she should have had her trigger finger extended down the side of the gun and not on the trigger, because I can’t see how he presented any danger to her life as he was.
Also, if you are familiar with firing a pistol, then let’s not make calls for shooting to wound, because that is just ridiculous. That’s what the taser is for.
Bullets are for killing.
So the guy was surrounded by four(4)cops and she pushes through and shoots the guy? Is that how it happened? Too many different stories.
More PC delusion about a female handling men.
Blacks are know for high blood pressure makes sense
First degree is a stretch, more like 2nd degree at the most. Expect this to be knocked down and a long drawn out court fight. My guess in the end is that it will be Manslaughter.
Window was rolled up. There are pictures of the vehicle with blood on the driver-side window, which obviously could not occur had it been rolled down.
I have wondered about that from the beginning...
He reached into his pocket twice and was ordered to take his hands out. He then is said to have reached into the vehicle. Are you saying he was only trying to warm his hands?
We need to know what the other officers are saying.
At about 7:36 p.m. Friday, dispatchers received a 911 call about an abandoned SUV in the middle of a street, with the driver's door open and the engine still running...
When Shelby approached the car, the doors were closed...
Huh?
Such evidence should only be released after a thorough investigation has taken place and only THEN should the MSM be allowed to report it........
That's her only hope. If that was the case, I think she was justified. On the video, it appears she might have fired much later... maybe even, after he was on the ground.
No excuse for that, other than.... a mistake.
An accident sounds like 2nd Degree manslaughter to me. But, again... it will all depend on the facts. I think there was a non-police eye witness in the parked, on-coming car. That testimony will be crucial.
Please, let’s not make ANY “shoot to wound” calls.
Anyone who has fired a handgun knows just how darned difficult it is to hit a stationary target at the range. . .let alone how difficult it is to shoot when filled with adrenaline or fear and when you are moving and against a moving target.
Shooting to wound is Dick Tracy fantasy, a media/Hollywood invention.

etc. . .
(Basically a firearm is deadly force and you are shooting at center mass).
“she accidentally pulled the trigger too.”
Wouldn’t be the first time a female cop had done that.
In the middle of the road, not near any target? Her lawyer tries that and the jury will laugh him out of court.
Next time she should make sure that blacks are in season before she shoots one.
This man is dead for absolutely no reason. She showed terrible judgement and shot him when there was no threat whatsoever to her or anyone else. If that isn't grounds for criminal charges then what is?
