I was working at a PBS station in the mid-90’s when “Les Mis in Concert” was all the rage, and PBS ran that bastard until we were ready to join hands and walk into a chopper blade.

Now here is this song now being used by republicans and the words—which I never knew before, probably out of avoidance—suddenly make crystal clear sense. Right now I’d support President Trump at the $50 a month pledge level, and they don’t even need to send me the coffee mug, the tote bag, a bumpersticker or the John Tesh CD!!

I agree, this should be the walk on music at Trump rallies from now on...and play it loud and proud one last time when the President clam victory on November 8th!

Inspiring video, which makes the point that Trump is the America manifestation of an international movement.

But we need some new lyrics, which refer to something more contemporary than the (failed) Paris uprising of 1832.

Let's see...

“Do you hear the people sing?
It is the song of angry men!
It is the music of the people
Who will not be fooled again!

When the beating of the drums
Echoes the beating of your heart,
Then when November comes
There is a new day about to start...”

...and so on. We don't need any verses about “the blood of the martyrs will water the fields of France...” That's just a paraphrase of “Marseillaise”, which has a line about “the blood of the invaders watering the fields...” We have our own body of patriotic verse to use for inspiration for words to this stirring music.

Love it! Upbeat tempo and message is quite a contrast to the downers at Hillary’s rallies. An idea for Election Day: Wear a plain white or red cap with no writing on it to the polling place. You will not be wearing any slogan so you are not electioneering. It would be fun to see how many other Trump voters are at the polling place and around town as you do your shopping that day.

It's wonderful.  And I will be so proud to see Trump at a meeting of foreign leaders.  He is truly leading the free world already and it makes me so proud -- a true American leader, not the Obama apologist.

Hillary has a very glum face on these days: she's just going through the motions.  No enthusiasm, just taking stupid potshots at Trump; no policy speeches to speak of.  She's a joke candidate. 

And I thank God for keeping this Queen of Corruption and Incompetence in the race because there's no way she can inspire people to come out and vote for her.

I like your suggestion, VietVet.  Let's modify the lyrics a bit.

Revolutions are not started by the common people.  But certain pivotal events rouse them to join the cause in righteous indignation.  Hillary's insult of Trump's supporters is such an event.

When I visited Dublin a few years ago, someone suggested I visit Kilmainham Gaol (Jail), a gruesome 18th century jail where the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising of the Irish Revolution were jailed and executed.

At first, I thought, visiting a jail isn't my idea of something to do on vacation.  But I'm glad I went because the excellent guided tour closed my knowledge of the Irish Revolution, which I felt important as an Irish-American.

Interestingly enough, the Irish people were at first opposed to the rebels.  But in the aftermath of the fighting, the cruelty of the British sparked the ultimate overthrow of British rule a few years later.

The story is explained very well by Elizabeth Covart on her history website:

The British Army arrested 14 of the [Easter] Rising’s leaders.

They sent 13 to Kilmainham Gaol and 1 to Dublin Castle for medical treatment.

Between 3rd and 12th May, 1916, the British Army executed by firing squad the 14 leaders they had arrested.

Unable to stand up for his execution, the Army tied James Connolly, the wounded leader, to a chair before they shot him.

This callous act of executing a wounded man under medical treatment became the straw that broke the camel's back. The people rose up and the British were ejected in the Irish War for Independence (1919-1921).

Likewise, Hillary's cruel and unjust "deplorables" comment has roused America's intelligent and uneducated rabble to raise their pitchforks.
