America is being held hostage by a tiny minority of absolute lunatics for whom owning two, three, eight or even 10 guns is simply not enough.
Thats the main finding of the first comprehensive study of gun owners in two decades.
Among the many findings that handgun purchases are soaring, that Americans wrongly believe they need more guns for personal safety, and that there are more privately held guns in this country than cars is a bit of news so shocking, it should embolden our spineless lawmakers in Washington:

So if gun owners represent a smaller portion of our population and nearly half of all guns are owned by dead-enders isnt it time for our politicians to realize that they dont have to listen to them anymore?
-snip
Frankly, this self-defense argument should be handled by the psychiatrists of all these fraidy cats rather than our politicians, who should be debating concrete facts, not unfounded fears.
Worse, the only thing the self-defense crowd has to fear is the self-defense crowd itself: Studies show that people who die in accidental shootings were more than three times as likely to have had a firearm in their home.

Total pansy
They are called gun nuts, and they keep telling me that I owe them something because with their guns they are protecting me and my rights, kind of like Batman or something.
What percentage of Colonists fought the British?
Every American should own at least 4 guns.
Long range bolt action rifle(over 400 yards).
Semi auto rifle.
Shotgun.
Handgun.
More junk science from morons.
This article is BS all the way to the sewer! I own a number of guns, none of which are registered. I know many like me.

Using 2003 data....8 million toilets are installed in America each year. Does the 8 million have any relationship to the incoming number or growth of the nation? No. It’s just junk data....except for 120,000 plumbers across the nation who shed a tear of happiness every time someone asks for a new toilet.
I started with the article and kept seeing this wonderful new “more statistically accurate” study being cited as groundbreaking and accurate because they didn’t “use just Landline telephones or some such trash. I clicked my way through no less than 4 links to get to the references and it ends up with a 2014 Pew Research survey with catalogued responses and breakdowns of a series of inane questions (IMO). Utter horseshit.
On the first part, I have a landline AND cellphone and internet and I virtually never respond to surveys. When, in the times I deign to answer, when questions involve guns my answer is “I don’t own a single gun.”
This article is bullshit by a series of passed-on interconnected two-year old crap that some dipshit decided to make a new crazy claim about guns.
It’s not worth the bother, frankly.
Back when I had 3 dozen guns, I regarded them as a good investment that I could both value and shoot.
Doesn’t this mean that there should be a government program to distribute more guns those deprived of one?
Excellent point !!!
Journalists like this ought to lose their First Amendment rights. Who wants to hear their crap?
Of course, if journalists like this feel that First Amendment rights are important and should not be “taken away” just because some blowhard like me says so, perhaps they ought to rethink their own view on the Second Amendment.
We demand gun equity. I want as many ARs as the rich guy has because it’s not fair I only have 3.
Every liberal is the totalitarian thug.
Too bad we can’t use the 8 million new toilets to flush the libtards away...
At a MIN YA MUM !
That's a meaningless statistic about a negligible number of people, most of whom are supposed to be legally barred from owning firearms because of prior felonies.
