JEFFERSON CITY Missouri became the latest state to allow residents to carry a concealed weapon without a permit when lawmakers supported the change Wednesday.
Tense debate during the legislature's annual veto override session encompassed themes of race and class as lawmakers clashed over whether to override Gov. Jay Nixon's veto of Senate Bill 656. In the days leading up to the session the debate drew national attention, with organizations on both sides of the issues working to influence lawmakers.
Another controversial part of the bill is its "stand your ground" provision, which will allow residents to use deadly force on public property if they perceive a threat.

NEVER trust the government to do right by its citizens is how I was raised - and how I raise my kids/grandkids.
Interesting map, thanks for posting.
It turns out Jay Nixon has had more vetos overturned than all the other governors of Missouri combined, all the way back to 1820.
Thirteen vetos overturned in this current session.
Good. In low-income (and brains and work ethics) neighborhoods, one of the few things that actually DETERS crime is the threat of everyone from the Grandmas to the Forrest Gump halfwits pointing a gun BACK at you. I’m not the greatest fan of everyone packing heat ever - but the hard fact is that between a crime-loving culture and crooks having more rights than citizens and cops this is the best solution by far.
The other known deterrent is the knowledge of imminent, unavoidable and severe punishment. The US hasn’t had that for quite some time. So arm up and aim straight.
Yep - they’re enabling criminals, it looks like to me.
Thank God they failed.
An aside but google Jason Kander gun ad. The rat nominee for US Senate in MO, comments are disabled on the you tube video. That’s not gonna stop me from commenting, Jace. You can’t silence me you filthy rat.
He tries to show credibility on guns by assembling a rifle blindfolded (”I’d like to see Roy Blunt do this”), then calling for gun control. Pissed me off. We aren’t impressed by your parlor tricks you lib bastard. You are a disgrace to the US army.
It’s like if a woman with 6 kids cut an ad of herself playing with her kids and then called for partial-birth abortion.
Missouri - The home of Josey Wales.
“...assembling a rifle blindfolded ...”
Gee... ain’t he cute... I was doing that when I was 14 years old.
For every one of him, there’s several thousand of us.
Good luck.
yes - lol
I agree with that as well.
There’s an awesome video where a black woman is about to have her home invaded by 2 or 3 thugs and she starts blasting her shotgun through the door.
Good for her.
If only other states would do the same...
...and I live in Maryland... sigh

If only other states would do the same...

You mean support, uphold and follow the Constitution? Hell, we have a cabal in D.C. that doesn’t; what’s to stop the States from doing the same??
Before the kudos go out: Was the ‘law’ coaxed in Constitutional law (”Whereas the 2nd A. reaffirms the inalienable Rights of all Men...”) or merely another facade of lawfulness on an otherwise illegal\unconstitutional infringement?
We’ll break them too, eventually.
And New Jersey.
It’s coming. People are getting fed up with being denied their Right to protect themselves.
Western Missouri family histories from the era of General Order Eleven are on file at the Blue Valley Library room at UMKC. This scorched earth campaign against everyone alive in western Missouri from 1863 to 1865 can not be minimized by time, only by dismissal of the facts.
It sucks big time to be envious of the freedoms other US citizens possess. A small taste of being a slave to a slave master. In any case, CCW permits should be for felons on probation.
The collapse of the jail with the wives and mothers inside was a more animating event that few are aware of at the time. While everything I read has indicated a stupid accident there is no way that the sons and husbands knew it.
I have paid particular attention to the actions and efforts of Senator Atchison in and around Platte County and the unsung events in Osceola.
TauntedTiger - I understand. I am so thankful to live in the Show Me State. We could use a few more freedom loving folks like you to move out here and join us.
As a Missouri resident we still have a lot of work to do to restore all of our freedom. We may have more gun and homeschooling freedom in MO, but we still have the boot of the government on our neck.
And the home of Jesse and Frank James.
