Teenage boys rushed into an Apple store in Hingham on Monday evening and stole more than 20 phones, police said.
Ten to 12 boys went into the store in the Derby Street Shoppes about 5:40 p.m. and stole 22 phones before fleeing, Hingham police said in a Twitter posting.
Police said the teenagers were all wearing sweatshirts with their hoods on.
Hingham Police Sergeant Steven Dearth said a witness saw some of the boys leaving in what looked like a white Ford Taurus with the license plates covered up. The witness lost sight of another group of boys once they entered the parking lot, so there may have been another vehicle involved.
Police are investigating, and waiting for the Apple store to send surveillance camera footage, Dearth said...
“Obviously, we’ve seen things where multiple people were involved,” Dearth said. “But we haven’t seen anything quite like this that’s organized with this many people. We haven’t seen anything like that, and we have a lot of retail places there.”
The incident comes several weeks after an organized group of teenagers flooded a Roslindale convenience store July 24 and began throwing and stealing merchandise.

I haven't been to Boston metro in ages but that's how I remember that area too. Here's what the Wikipedia entry for Hingham has to say about its demographics:
The racial makeup of the town was 97.5% White, 0.40% Black or African American, 0.04% Native American, 0.88% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.22% from other races, and 0.95% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.75% of the population.[33]
How awful. They are probably intending to use the phones to text each other about federalism and liberty and stuff. I suspected them all along, because they are responsible for all of the oppression going on in this world. And now they have iPhones!

It reminds me of that case in NJ where a rich lawyer got shot dead in front of his wife in a parking lot, and everyone was shocked because it was an "upscale mall".
If the vibrancy index hits the sweet spot, there are no nice areas - that the place you got killed was "upscale" really doesn't matter.
But it is only 5 minutes by car from Quincy, which has a big drug problem.
Oddly enough, Quincy is mostly Asian.
Maybe 10 minutes by car from Dorchester, which DOES have a “Yout” Gang problem.
They’ll also no doubt use the phones in their job searches. That was what was probably preventing them from finding work. That and racism.
Hingham is 98% white & quite wealthy....most likely it was spoiled local youth.
It still “is”, but the youts have CARS!
There is no need to stay in the hood if the pickings elsewhere are better.

HINGHAM, MA — Police in Hingham are investigating a robbery at a Derby Street store involving at least 10 men.
At 5:40 p.m. Sunday night, 8-10 men ran into the Apple Store at the Derby Street Shoppes and simultaneously stole 22 cell phones from the store, police said. The total value of the stolen items is over $14,000

Yes, the Short Hill Malls and it is an upscale mall in an ‘exclusive’ area. The murderers were from Newark - where else? Which is not far away.
Interesting you should mention it. I was just thinking of this horrendous case which was about two years ago at Christmas time.
