Pope Francis calls climate change a ‘sin’
Washington Times ^ | September 1, 2016 | Bradford Richardson

Pope Francis is imploring Catholics to confess their sins against the environment, calling the degradation of the climate a “sin against God.”

In his message marking the World day of Prayer for the Care of Creation on Thursday, the pontiff said climate change is caused in part by human activity, leads to extreme weather and disproportionately affects the least advantaged around the world.

He added that “to commit a crime against the natural world is a sin against ourselves and a sin against God.

I was raised Catholic. Went to Catholic grade and high schools. I'm having a hard time recalling any other Pope running his mouth off like this guy on every subject imaginable.

I have zero respect for this Pope. He's a joke!

Seems to me that, since being a member of the Catholic Church is a work, your catechism indeed says that works are necessary for salvation.

Do you have to believe in Christ to be saved? By your crazy logic, believing in Christ is also a work. So you believe that works (believing in Christ) can save you.

I will spend as much time as necessary to help you understand the REAL teachings of Christ and the Church he established. We can do it here, but I'd hate to steal the thread.

But works are a part of the salvation plan of Christ. You may be confusing what the Church teaches with what the Bible teaches:
"Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling."Philippians 2:12

And here:"You see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only." James 2:24

But you probably don't trust the Bible, because the Church gave us the Bible. Where did the table of contents of the Bible come from?

“Do you have to believe in Christ to be saved? By your crazy logic, believing in Christ is also a work.”

No, that is not “my logic”, do not put words in my mouth. Belief is the work of the father:

“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.” John 6:44

“Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.” James 1:18

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” 1 Peter 1:3

“You may be confusing what the Church teaches with what the Bible teaches:”

If your church is the true representative of Christ on earth, there really shouldn’t be any conflict in the teachings, should there?

“But you probably don’t trust the Bible, because the Church gave us the Bible.”

God gave us the Bible, which is why we call it the Word of God, so noone may boast that it is their own work.

There are no conflicts with the Church and Scripture.

But prayfully consider these questions, and give specific answers:

Where did the table of contents of the Bible come from?

Where did God say "This is the Bible" ?

Where did God tell Martin Luther to remove certain books from the Bible?

These are serious questions. Please give specific answers.

Belief is the work of the father

So you need do nothing to be saved? Everything is the work of the Father? The Father planted belief in your brain, but not others?

You make no sense whatsoever.

I’m a thankful Catholic convert & I can assure you the Church does NOT teach what you claim. Peace be with you.

And while you're at it, answer these questions:

1) Where did Jesus give instructions that the Christian faith should be based exclusively on a book?

2) Where did Jesus tell His apostles to write anything down and compile it into an authoritative book?

3) Where in the New Testament do the apostles tell future generations that the Christian faith will be based solely on a book?

4) Where in the Bible do we find an inspired and infallible list of books that should belong in the Bible?

Agreed. Belief that humans are as capable as God of controlling the environment is a grievous sin. The Pope gets one right.

And where did God give us the table of contents of the Bible? How was it that Martin Luther could change the Table of Contents of the Bible after 1,500 years? Where did God tell Martin Luther to change the Bible?

Tropical storm Hermine flew through Georgia today. In Athens, we got a much needed coolness and maybe 15 mile an hour winds at the most.

But I read that Hermine was the first hurricane to hit Florida in 11 years!

Have the "scientists" updated their long range predictions to account for these things?

The track record of the North American climatologists in predicting the number of hurricanes is been dismal, especially in 2013. I posted a story on this earlier this year:

Not unless and until each and every human baby in utero enjoys constitutional protection from the babykillers and the last Planned Barrenhood official and baby parts broker is strangled with the guts of the last abortionist.

Rivers are NOT comparable to babies. Each baby has an immortal soul as rivers do not.

As to all these "environmental" fads, I have never been moved. We all have some limitation as to the number of causes we can be involved with and as to the intensity of each involvement. I will leave the environmental stuff to you and Bergoglio and absolutely refuse to get carried away like illegitimate antipope Frankie with the insanity that there are "environmental sins." How ridiculous!

When secular politicians bring out their "environmental" oompah bands to gull the suckers, they are using an "environmental" agenda to bludgeon business and a free economy for their own Marxist agendas. It is no accident that the late unlamented envirowhacko US Senator Gaylord Nelson (Marxist-Leninist-Wisconsin) chose Lenin's birthday to be the Annual "Earth Day."

Meanwhile, as a Catholic, I will say that Commissar Frankie should depart as soon as humanly possible and pray that God send us as soon as possible a young, healthy, physically and intellectually and spiritual man with actually CATHOLIC views to replace the colossal blunder of the last conclave and then let each and every Frankie sympathizer be purged in favor of Catholics.

So, in short, you don't see any moral problem with dumping a few tons of mining sludge into the local river.

Science is the search for truth. When scientists fail to apprehend the truth and therefore fail in their profession, the Church (not necessarily the likes of Frankie) will stand with God and His truth. Its who we are. Its what we do!

"Will someone tell this Commie Pope to shut up!!!"

The only way he'll shut up is to cut WAY DOWN the Vatican's take from American collection plates...which is enormous.

When I want my little voice to be heard more loudly, I vote with my wallet.

As I previously posted, I am leaving the whacked out "environmental" delusions and obsessions to you since you cannot be bothered saving babies from the scalpel and the suction machines.

If you care so much about imagined problems of dumping sludge in rivers, file a lawsuit or get someone with property downstream to do so and the courts will grant injunctive relief and all without the Marxist claptrap. The theory is that a PROPERTY OWNER has the right to enjoy undisturbed by the acts or negligence of others, having a clean unpolluted river flowing by is an amenity and property right of abutting landowners. We call this theory CAPITALISM or ECONOMIC FREEDOM. Envirowhackos should try it sometime. Unlike Marxism, it works!

Ok, so you don't see a moral problem with it. Fine, that's all I was asking. No need to rave on.

You were taught wrong. The Church NEVER taught that works save.

So no one needs to be purged of all character defects in purgatory in order to enter Heaven, versus being purified by faith which is counted for righteousness, and made accepted in the Beloved on His account?

And Trent does not infer that works save in declaring that the one is justified by the good works that he performs by the grace of God and the merit of Jesus Christ, and truly merits the attainment of eternal life itself? (Trent, Canons Concerning Justification, Canon 32).
