Pope Francis is imploring Catholics to confess their sins against the environment, calling the degradation of the climate a sin against God.
In his message marking the World day of Prayer for the Care of Creation on Thursday, the pontiff said climate change is caused in part by human activity, leads to extreme weather and disproportionately affects the least advantaged around the world.
He added that to commit a crime against the natural world is a sin against ourselves and a sin against God.

Nothing that mia said seems to indicate that belief or "feeling".
What do battery acid and sewage have to do with climate change and carbon dioxide “pollution”?
The very idea that mere mortal humans could control the climate goes against everything the nuns taught me in the Catechism.
Mortal sin or venial sin? I will say three Hail Marys and an Our Father.
Visit any third-world country and see.
Is there some sort of a Switch that turns Climate Change On and Off?
I listen to all the grumbling, but there is NOTHING that we puny Humans can do to change the Climate to an idyllic 72 Degrees all over the Globe.
The idea that People think they can change the entire Society so something Magical will occur is just idiotic.
I know, they just want an A for effort.
If things don’t change or get worse it’s “at least we tried”. If somehow things change to match their Liberal version of Utopia it’s “see, we were right” and all the money and negative impact on People’s lives was worth it.
The dirty little secret is things will get better or worse in spite of what we do, not because we did anything.
You just can’t win.
When’s the last time anyone did that?
Who were the people in the Middle Ages who triggered the Little Ice Age? How about those who triggered the Medieval Warming Period?
God is a raving leftist?
Who knew? ;-)
It is time for an anti-pope. They we can sell arms to both sides while they duke it out...
Biggest offender there is China.
They’re generally not overly concerned about the directives of God.
Two thousand hears of carefully weighed Christian moral theology tossed on its head by this unthinking leftist!
Yes, and would you consider that a crime against nature, or a sin?
I have to say this Pope has become more like the world than the last 20 popes, how sad. I am not a catholic, was once, but then found out it wasn’t works but grace that saves, I never looked back. So many are trapped in that system too. That’s not to say there aren’t a ton of saved people that are catholics, but by and large, whenever I ask a catholic if they are going to heaven, the say “Yes, because I’m a good person”, it’s exactly what my parent said, and my wife’s parents said, and most of our extended family who are catholics.
You were taught wrong. The Church NEVER taught that works save.
Crime against Nature (and their own people), but they’re not overly concerned about that, either.
Will somebody tell this Commie Pope to shut up!!!
Say what you will, but almost every catholic I ask has that response, I’m not a catholic anymore, so no need to convince me, I know how it works and what is taught.
Sure, of course the Chinks don't care. But I just want to establish that there is validity to the concept of crimes against nature. Dumpying 10,000 liters of mining waste into the local river is a crime. And a sin too. Surely it's not so controversial.
