Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Wasn’t the London outbreak traced to a certain well and the epidemic stopped when they removed the handle from the pump?

What a disaster. It's mind numbing. What good was done in Haiti considering the millions poured into it since the earthquake?

When it comes to healthcare, Obama and his underlings always chose the wrong way.

Now Obama is mulling over giving the inept UN control of the internet.

But the MSM will always protect him, no matter what. Ten years from now he'll be canonized.

The U.S. Justice Department has appeared at each session to argue on behalf of the U.N., against the Haitian victims.

Why am I not surprised?

My first thought was that the Clinton’s Global Initiative was responsivble.

I am still fairly certain that they had a part.

Good find, interesting read. I’m surprised it’s on Slate.

Thanks for posting.

I didn't get this:

"... The Obama administration and the U.S. government did not want the U.N. to be held accountable, because doing so might persuade other people elsewhere to hold U.S. peacekeeping missions accountable—and because the U.S. foots about a quarter of the U.N. peacekeeping budget..."

It makes it sound as if our government didn't want anyone to know for fiscal purposes. Since when has this government ever given a single damn about money we have given away to anyone?

If anything, it was because they didn't want to soil the reputation of their favorite global bureaucracy, the UN. (Though it is hard to imagine how an organization so corrupt they condone child abuse by their "Peace Keepers" could have a reputation any less soiled to begin with.)

Journalism? How did this happen?

It could start a trend.

Wow, I had read that the UN caused it but didn’t know how.
Thanks, Nepal.

The real question is not whether the Cholera epidemic that killed thousands of poor Haitians came from the U.N.’s presence there. That is a fact.

The real question is whether it was PLANNED so that an experimental Cholera vaccine could be tested. Imagine, hundreds of thousands exposed to Cholera with nowhere to turn for help but the U.N., U.S. Government, and the Gates foundation. And instead of clean drinking water, they offer you experimental medicine that can help prevent Cholera in as many as 60% of those who get it for up to 6 months before it mutates. (Cholera is NOT easily transmitted. So the best way to prevent it is to find a source of clean water.)

I seriously doubt that Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, or the celebrities who showed up for photo ops in Haiti would be willing to put an experimental Cholera vaccine into their bodies or drink the local water. And, by the way, the water was not contaminated with Cholera until the U.N. do-gooders, aka “peace keepers”, showed up from a recent trip to Cholera infested Nepal.

Wait a minute. I thought the billions given to the Clinton Global Initiative took care of the problems in Haiti.

Did I miss something?

I’m confused. I read the article, at Slate of all places, and it seems to be a good article. I’d even call it responsible journalism. How did that happen?

Great article, and thanks for posting. The Snow map is Epidemiology 101, one of the most remarkable acts of street-level analysis in all of science.

The Haiti map is utterly damning. That open pool of sewage is absolutely damning. That the strain is Asian in origin is conclusive. That an organization as large and corrupt as the UN has been able to deflect blame is outrageous. That Haitians continue to die of a preventable disease is appalling. That the Clinton Foundation has diverted funds intended for that relief is, sadly, all too believable.

Sounds like a great opportunity for one of those anti drug company lawyers. There are tens of thousands of clients that can be converted to plaintiffs. The UN has very deep pockets
