As Hillary Clinton assailed Donald J. Trump on Thursday for fanning the flames of racism embraced by the alt-right, the community of activists that tends to lurk anonymously in the internets dark corners could hardly contain its glee.
Mrs. Clintons speech was intended to link Mr. Trump to a fringe ideology of conspiracies and hate, but for the leaders of the alt-right, the attention from the Democratic presidential nominee was a moment in the political spotlight that offered a new level of credibility. It also provided a valuable opportunity for fund-raising and recruiting.

I like your description of it.
Let’s fight back, and when it’s appropriate to use the same tactics the Left has been using, let’s do it.
Mockery and ridicule can work for our side too.

You’d think this dense broad would have known from the horrible ISIS experience that mentioning these “hateful” groups gives them free publicity. Dummy.
Alt-right? Really? What the hell is she even talking about? Does she even know?
I haven’t heard of it until this week. Smells like something made up by that one guy who has illusions of grandeur. That said, it’ll be the most trending hash tag by Monday morning and Hellary and the msm will be on it like fleas on a dog.
I heard of them yesterday...
“JimRob was alt-right before it was cool
I used to play FreeRepublic on 78 for Gawdz sake...

Funniest comment of the night!
Reading Wikileaks HRC emails is eye opening. Plug in a search term like “cgi” for Clinton Global Initiative and learn how the ruling class thinks. Sid Blumenthal was her behind the scenes guy, he or his kids prob made up this one to replace her VRWC. Interesting that R is now separated from ‘far’ right.
So alt right is where the really cool people are? Geez, people are going to want to sit with us in the cafeteria.
Sounds like some ancient USENET thing. Have not had access to that for decades, if it still exists.
It's not a conspiracy. It's a majority of law abiding US Citizens who are against having a traitorous proven liar as President.
MEVER, NEVER, EVER press the flag thing.
Yeah, most of the public yawns at WIKI leaks. However, they are in the hands of people that can do something about them. There is only one group that appears to do anything about them, and that is Trump’s group. Meanwhile you get the neocons pledging support for hillary, even though they claim that they are conservative.
Lots of folks claiming silly things these days. Dudes claiming they're chicks and wanting to pee with girls or install plugs for their own "menses". It's a mad, mad, mad world. Good thing there is an immovable rock upon which I can rely. Nite all!
The bent crank gives that a big thumbs up.
Too good.
Thanks for the reminder. It can get easy for me to forget that he is in control. So whether it is Trump, Obama, Clinton or so on, we will not need to despair. Obviously for the time being I want to watch Trump succeed.
Not just taxes. Its all just Enough Already, but I guess that doesn’t make for a neat acronym
"I don't think it means, what YOU think that it means!"
The Alt Right has been around for years. It is kind of like FR, only the people are younger, less intellectually attached to conservatism as an intellectual school of thought, and perhaps more viscerally hateful toward liberals.
Most conservatives haven’t heard of FR, though it is obviously something they should know about. Likewise, many Freepers haven’t heard of the alt-right, though like Fr, it is quite a force, and has done a lot of good. I would guess the alt-right is about twenty times as big as FR in readership, though it could be ten times bigger than that, though more loosely aligned.
It’s size is mainly due to the fact that the alt-right is a loose knit conglomeration of many sites devoted to rightist attitudes in different subjects including Science Fiction writing, video games, Anti-immigration, prepping, hacking, economics, news, politics, anti-diversity, pro-military, science blogs on genetics, evolution, pick-up artists, psychology, and so on. The blogs and site periodically link to each other’s stories of leftist outrages, and it has all sort of joined into a big counter culture, which only the people who follow those sites know about. Each site has its followers, but they know about all the others, and will work together on twitter to do things, like the Gamergate scandal activism that actually did a lot of damage to leftist networks running businesses.
If this were a Civil War, Freepers would be marching in orderly fashion toward DC to imprison the politicians, while Alt-Righters would be looking up liberals in the phone book, firebombing their houses at night, and killing them and their children as they ran out. There is a lot of enthusiasm.
The alt-right is a little less wedded to any specific ideology except the idea liberals can’t be lived with. So you get a lot of people living in diversified neighborhoods who think diversity sucks. You get anti-corruption people, small government people, preppers who think government is doomed, Video game programmers who hate feminists for ruining video games with transgender love stories, anti-immigration people, and so on. A motley crew united by hatred for the left. There are even gays who just hate liberals for ruining America.
Some of us have had a foot in each side, so to us this is nothing new.
Who is John Alt?
