On Wednesday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump stated that people who have been in the US illegally for a long period of time won’t get citizenship “have to pay taxes, there’s no amnesty as such. There’s no amnesty. But we work with them.”
Trump was asked, [relevant exchange begins around 3:30] “[Y]ou’re not a criminal alien, you committed no crimes, but you didn’t respect our laws and sovereignty. You also seem to be indicating there might be something other than they have to go back. Am I reading that right?”
He answered, “Look, we have to follow the laws of our country.”
Trump then asked the audience what should be done about people who have been in the US for a long time and has been “terrific.”
After asking this question of his audience two more times, Trump was asked, “So, you’re saying there is — and you have been sort of indicating that there’ll be some flexibility that you — originally you had said they were all out, and there was a big brouhaha, but you’re saying that if somebody can prove that they’ve been here, proven to be a citizen, but here’s the big question, though, no citizenship?”
Trump responded, “No citizenship. Let me go a step further, they’ll pay back taxes, they have to pay taxes, there’s no amnesty as such. There’s no amnesty. But we work with them.

You are exactly right! The ones that want to be American citizens come the right way. I have worked with and know lots of people that have worked with these illegals. It’s all about using our country like a bunch of locusts and sending the money back home to build a cushy life for themselves and family back there. Why in the world would they want to come out of the shadows and have to pay taxes?! Many get cash and none of it is reported. The only taxes collected from these people are in the form of sales tax. That’s why I am in favor of a federal sales tax instead of income tax. Then they will have to pay it and won’t be able to file for any rebates since they are not here legally to begin with. Trump could easily make them pay for the wall by putting fees on money sent out of this country through Western Unions and other such money transfer companies. These people are draining us by exploiting our medical facilities, schools and the stupid government giving them all kinds of benefits.
If the jobs and welfare benefits are cut off, they’ll self deport.”
Good news if true. Businesses won’t cut off jobs until some CEO’s end up with prison time for not doing so and the Chamber of Commerce is de-fanged. Penalties for using E-verify are minimal and not all states require its use. Seriously doubt if the Federal government even uses it. In order to make these minimal steps work it’s going to take a huge overhaul of all the systems and strict enforcement. Do politicians have the guts? We’ll see.
Just cut off the food stamps, free education and medical support...they will go home.

Just how can either the invader or the IRS figure out what those back taxes should be? Invaders keep tax records and W2 forms? Even if they did you have to make quite a bit of over the table income to require any taxes need to be paid.
He never left it. He said all along there’d be an open door for return of the good ones. He’s said that from the beginning.
I watched the Anderson Cooper video on the thread here on Free Republic, and he CLEARLY told Cooper that ANY illegal had to return home first and that there would be no citizenship path. So we’re talking work visas. But they have to be LEGAL. He said that millions have gone the legal route and are waiting patiently in line, and it’s entirely unfair to them to let people cut the line illegally.
I absolutely agree with that.
The RATs want the votes and they don’t care how much of YOUR money they have to spend to get them, so look for a “to the death” fight on this from the Left.
Unfortunately there’s too many RINOs in congress that want the cheap low-tech and high-tech labor for their big business campaign donors. Trump is a start, but these RINO open borders/H1B loving ba$tards need to be primaried in Trump’s first term to make any real progress.

I haven’t read Trump’s immigration plan in a while, but I’ll bet there’s a provision in there for penalizing those who hire illegals. It’s one of the largest components of the problem, and Trump is always talking about it. There a no question he’s going to crack down on the employers. He can’t deliver on his promise to us if he doesn’t.
Back taxes are fine and dandy.
I want to see stiff penalties for employers of illegals, quick deportation of illegals, bounties on illegals, no voting rights ever for illegals or those given amnesty or their children, a serious border fence and repulsion actions, and an English ONLY rule for all governmental forms, processes (except for border crossings, embassies and immigration services) and schools (except for foreign language classes).

So it’s your learned opinion that we have laws in our nation that state state when illegals have evaded the authorities for 15-20 years, they are then allowed to pay back taxes and stay?
Please tell me where you found that law.
Do you realize that when they register and are allowed to stay, they are in that instant no longer an illegal.

As a matter of fact, I have supported Trump longer here than just about anyone here.
I have posts going back a full year to prove it.
I just watched a video of Ann Coulter on Hannity in which she stated that “pay back taxes” was another term for amnesty since most illegals would probably qualify for $30,000 of Earned Income Credit back from the government. I think she said Rubio used that term when he was pushing the “Gang of 8” bill.
Going after employers is key since that helps take away the magnet. Legal status should only consist of a work permit and no chance at government subsidies or voting rights.
