On Friday, Brian Doherty of the Libertarian flagship publication Reason scolded me, and by extension anyone else who has been turned off by some of the Johnson-Weld tickets public statements, that we were placing more importance on the attitude stuff related to culture war issues about discrimination and guns than on the really crucial issues of spending or budgets or the growth of government.
Then on Monday, Gary Johnson came out in favor ofdrumroll, pleasea carbon tax to fight global warming.

The only reason they are running is to help Clinton win the election.
Doesn’t this make him a good alternative for Bernie supporters and young Trump haters that need someone “not trump” to vote for besides Hillary?
Even worse he is a GOPe globalist who said on Monday he is going to have Mitt Romney in his cabinet.
Carbon tax is LIBERTARIAN??!?!!
If the majority of people were so heartbroken by using oil, they would stop. Product/demand thingy would kick in.
And that ain’t happening.
Some Newbie was all impressed that this guy climbed everest.
I would have been happier if he stayed up there
Johnson and Weld represent perfectly what the GOPe is.
Most people who want to “stop using oil” probably don’t realize that plastic is a petroleum product.
It’s past time to sink Johnson in a way that can’t be traced by to Trump directly.
Once Trump gets those voter back under the Republican tent, he will win in a cakewalk.
Yay!
Impy was right. The libertarians are positioning to poach more Hillary votes than Trump votes.
“Conservatives” are starting to feel the Johnson in order to smooth the path to the White House for the old, Marxist bitty. Feel the screech! If you are voting for the Johnson, don’t call yourself a “patriotic American” because that’s not what you are. You’re a Clintoon supporter along with 30 million illegal alien voters.
My father in law, who considers himself conservative, like this guy. I told him that this guy is a complete loser (politically); seems like he enjoys his life though. My father in law, and pastor for that matter just think Trump is too arrogant. I love Trump, and his arrogance, at least to me, is part of his charm. He has a lot to proud of, especially of his family.
But ultimately, I know in my heart that a hillary clinton presidency would be a disaster. I suppose it will be a Kaine presidency, seeing that I don’t believe Clinton will live very long. The way this election is going, I wouldn’t be surprised if Clinton is dead the day before the vote.
Yep.
That's what I'm thinking. With the kids returning to college right about now, I'm hoping that many of the Bernie Sanders supporters will take up the cause of Gary Johnson, with enough support to get him into the debates. I think he'll draw more votes away from Hillary than he will Trump.
This would explain Beck’s loving approval. Sanity is not part of the package for people who keep seeking groups that will let them claim the mantle of leader.
They so screwed the TEA Party concept that they are moving on to Libertarians and hopefully soon to Democrats where they belong.
Johnson and Weld should attract that crowd.
The author of the article, Robert Tracinski, turns out to be a bitter GOPe NeverTrumper who is looking to start a GOP in Exile party for his establishment pals

You and I are on pretty much the same page, except I’m not really a Trump fan. I now just see him as the lesser of two evils. But to be really clear, the other evil is more evil by several orders of magnitude. It’s like having to choose between Jimmy Carter and Stalin for me. I’ll take Jimmy.
Your post reminded me of how much I miss the Lyndon LaRouche kids on the street in Seattle I’d discuss politics with for years on end.
Always a fresh batch of altruistic freshmen to promote the cause.
I cannot stand Johnson. I usually fall towards Libertarian in my beleifs and this guy was so disappointing.
Here we go again....
What’s kinda funny was that even before the primary and I was a strong nevertrumper, I thought that if he got the nomination he would win the presidency. It was because of my belief for YEARS that Hillary is not physically up to it (I’m still shocked she ran) and that there are a LOT of kids on the left and anarchists that would see Trump as their “outsider” even though he’s rich.
Heck, the young revolutionaries seem to always fall behind some old rich guy. It’s kinda funny.

Obviously Alt Libertarian.
Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. One cannot have an immoral populace and small government, at any level. What is libertarianism?
