Bad move there sir. Don't know if the gentleman had a ccw or not or if he had been to a course in Florida. When I took the class in FL they made a point of trying to make us understand that under FL law, if the perp is moving away, you had better no shoot because you WILL become the bad guy. I understood perfecly. If it ain't a threat, best not shoot. Sad situation.

That is correct. The elderly man appears to have made a bad move.

I was taught by a retired cop that if you shoot someone on your lawn or doorstep be sure to drag the body into the house.

Beware the forensics dept; they will figure that out, real quick.

LOL! With today’s foensics, you better unlearn that one. The guy teaching our class related a story about someone who tried that and end up with a 20 to life sentence when it was over.

In a SANE world this old man would be a hero for preventing another burglary and possible attack on other neighbors. But we don’t live in a SANE world anymore.

I heard that “drag him across the threshold” meme for many years, but at my farm/nursery’s range, years ago, I asked a customer (sheriff) who was shooting with me, and he got dead serious: “DON’T EVER DO THAT! We’ll know in under 60secs.”

Shot several times while fleeing. All non-life threatening.
Probably all from behind.
I could see that defense working.
NOT!
To: dp0622
LOL! Maybe we shoot to quick. Pretty sad little lives we have huh.

The old man should have said:
1. I feared for my life.
2. I thought he was maneuvering to shoot me.
3. And now I want to talk to my lawyer.

No, the law is protecting against the use of deadly force when there is no longer a threat. Don’t go off the deep end.

Bad move, Sir. Per usual, the anti-gun rights activists will run with this story to demand more "common sense" gun control, ad nauseum.
