Speaking today in Charlotte, North Carolina Donald Trump presented a different tone, admitting he had made mistakes at times and said the wrong thing.
Opening his speech with a discussion of the devastating flooding in Louisiana, Trump said, I hope everyone in Louisiana knows that our country is praying for them and standing with them in these difficult hours.
After a brief discussion of the economy and terrorism, Trump offered a kind of extended apology for some of the statements he has made during the campaign. Im not a politician, Trump said. He continued, Ive worked in business, created a great company, created lots of jobs rebuilding neighborhoodsthats what Ive done all of my adult life.
Ive never wanted to learn the language of the insiders and Ive never been politically correct. It takes far too much time truthfully, it takes far too much time and can make it more difficult to achieve total victory. Sometimes, in the heat of debate and speaking on a multitude of issues, you dont choose the right words or you say the wrong thing. I have done that and believe it or not, I regret it. And I do regret it, particularly where it may have caused personal pain.
Trump concluded, Too much is at stake for us to be consumed with these issues. But one thing I can promise you this: I will always tell you the truth. Later in the speech Trump built on this saying, While sometimes I can be too honest, Hillary Clinton is the exact opposite. She never tells the truth.

Any attempt by Hillary to use this against him is fraught with danger for her. He can counter with “do you regret lying” and “do you regret trying to destroy women used by your husband” and on and on. Hillary is a glass house and Trump has taken high ground with a fistful of stones.
I was at the rally earlier when he said this and I agree.
Dear Don:
NEVER apologize.
You’re right, and they’re wrong.
My favorite TV show is NCIS, its Hero is Leroy Gibbs character who doesn’t believe in apologies. I do if your wrong and in being wrong hurt others, or mess up things.
Apologizing is to me not weakness it shows your humble and want to do right, it takes strength to admit mistakes. Takes a courageous person to set things right, eat the crap sandwich of your own making.
Trump here may not own an apology. He attacked mostly after being attacked. I have practiced martial arts since I was 14 years old, and have only used what I know in defense, never in anger striking first.
Politics ain’t bean ball. All the people Trump went after know that in Politics your going to be fairly and unfairly attacked and you better have a thick skin and wear your big boy pants.
So if Jeb, Ted, Lydnsay and Kasick made a pledge and won’t honor it because their feelings got hurt, too bad.
But, if Hillary wins all those liberal SCotus Judges she will pick will be on their head.
To these babies, you got an apology you didn’t deserve thanks to Trump, even though you all pledged to support him and you all attacked him first.
Time to endorse Trump and bury the hatchet in Hellary instead of pouting.
There is not a thing wrong with humility and honesty.
Don’t look back. Keep your eye to the future. Don’t let the enemy define the terms of battle.
Fire the adviser.
What mistakes?
DJT said nothing wrong re Khan.
DJT said nothing wrong re “2nd Amend. people”.
The judge is LaRaza.
What mistakes?
You’re not alone Trump. Just ask my wife.
I agree I am a Trump volunteer for half a year, was a Trump delegate.
I donate to him by subscription, the speeches this week have been great. The one that was about civil rights and extreme vetting was one for the ages. Proud to support a man who doesn’t need the job, and who I believe is the only choice that will make the country better.
He showed how big a man he is to apologize to lessor men who I would never vote for because they have not honored their pledges.
I like that Rick Perry is 9 percent ahead of Cruz in a Texas poll. Perry stepped up, Trump called him names after Perry got some good body shots on Trump.
Its like sportsmanship after you lose a fair fight, you congradulate the winner. Trump won fairly in a rigged system. Time for these sour grapes losers to show they have some character after all.
“The judge is LaRaza.”
I wish that Trump had actually said that. I waited a solid week for him to lay down the facts about that judge, but he never did. I mean, he had the judge and the lying media right in his cross hairs, and never pulled the trigger.
I thought it was very uncharacteristic of Trump to muff an opportunity like that.
“What mistakes?
DJT said nothing wrong re Khan.
The judge is LaRaza.
What mistakes?”
The mistake was HIM saying things instead of one of his surrogates. Why take the heat when you have hitmen like Perry, Rudy and Chris?
Good move by Trump.
Someone who occasionally says the wrong thing vs someone who always does the wrong thing.
“Perry stepped up”
The wife and me were rooting for Perry and Trump at the start of the primaries and before you knew it, he was gone.
He really likes to get on CNN and mix it up.
Hillary is incapable of being honest.
THank you.
There is nothing wrong with expressing regret. Soldiers in battle regret the loss of innocent life but realize that collateral damage does occur, and do their jobs anyway. Trump says he regrets causing personal pain but he is in battle too and will not become politically correct or stop fighting just because once in a while someone gets hurt unintentionally.
Anyone who can’t understand this isn’t being honest with themselves. Unless your name is Jesus Christ, we’ve all done things we regret, and we are taught to forgive and be forgiven.

Bravo!
This has to be KellyAnne Conway’s idea. Brilliant move.
Most women I know including my wife ALL SAY they support him BUT WISH that he would just SHUT UP. This is a play to consolidate the women’s vote away from HRC.
