Alaska Court’s Ruling on Abortion and Parental Notification Hurts Teens
Daily Signal ^ | 8/16/16 | Jana Minich & Elizabeth Slattery

Hillary Kieft grew worried when her daughter didn’t arrive from school on the bus as usual. After she called the school to find out what was wrong, a school nurse pulled into her driveway with the daughter (let’s call her “Kelly”) in tow. The nurse explained that she had taken Kelly for counseling after school, according to LifeNews.com, which reported on the Kieft story.

But, in fact, the nurse took Kelly to have an abortion.

In New Zealand—where the Kieft family lives—it is completely legal for a minor to have an abortion without her parents’ knowledge. Parents like Hillary Kieft have no legal right to be involved in their child’s decision to have an abortion, or even to be notified before it happens.

This is where I would beat that nurse near to death.

“have no legal right to be involved in their child’s decision to have an abortion”

Only complete strangers are allowed to make that decision.

Tell me all the horror stories that you wish, but I do believe that when a major surgery with risks is going on, if I am a teenager’s guardian, I deserve to know. Sorry, but that is just fact. If some nurse wants to be complicit and underhanded about a major surgery, then that is not honorable, IMO.

Then why can’t nurses take them to get an earring?

“have no legal right to be involved in their child’s decision to have an abortion”

You have to be 18 or have parents' permission to:

Use a tanning bed
Get your ears pierced
Get a tattoo

Let your kid bring an aspirin to school and share it with another student who has a headache? Call the police! Drug dealing.

Let your kid bring their prescription medicines to school and don’t inform the school nurse? Arrest, prosecution, expulsion.

Not let your kids get vaccines because you believe some kooky theory on the Internet about vaccines causing autism? Child Services get involved and perhaps take them from you.

Any other cases of what the state deems to be your responsibility toward your child? YOU get prosecuted.

Your minor daughter gets pregnant and wants an abortion? No problem! You do NOT need to even know about it.

What part of CHILD does NZ not understand?

Headline says “Alaska Court’s Ruling” but the story is about some family in New Zealand? Am I missing something or was this perhaps an excerpt that has little to do with the main story?

I am sure that New Zealand is a signatory to the UN Rights of the Child Treaty.

They’re still trying here.

Are kids so afraid of their parents that they are willing to risk their lives in surgery rather than fessing up?
There is something wrong here.
Or are the kids in fact victims of the feminazi and abortion industry mind set and pressure?

Better to teach the kids some bravery: If you have bad news, share it with your parents sooner rather than later.

Several years ago, I took my son to the clinic for an infected ingrown toenail. I had to sign a form acknowledging that the outpatient surgery, under local anesthetic, may cause injury or even death. For an ingrown toenail!! No parental permission or even knowledge of their child having an abortion, which is MUCH riskier???

The excerpt did not include the section that mentioned a recent ruling by a court in Alaska.

Kind of odd, but if the parents gave the kid a couple of drinks, sent her out in the car, I guess they wouldn’t have any responsibility for what she does?

Yep, only strangers should be allowed to convince her to kill their grandbaby.

The reasoning behind these laws and I’m not saying I support it is to protect girls who may become pregnant from incest.

****The reasoning behind these laws and I’m not saying I support it is to protect girls who may become pregnant from incest.****

I don’t believe that for a second. If that were the motivation for the law, there would also have to be DNA tests to determine if that was the case. Then prosecution of the molesting party.
