House Speaker Paul Ryan wins primary, defeats longshot GOP challenger praised by Donald Trump.
Ryan was being challenged by Paul Nehlen.
Nehlen had been courting Trump supporters and won praise from the Republican presidential nominee last week. But Trump endorsed Ryan days later.
Ryan had largely ignored Nehlen in what had been a sleepy primary before Trump thanked Nehlen on Twitter for his comments defending Trump. Nehlen won the backing of some prominent conservative figures, including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, but it wasn't enough to overcome Ryan's popularity in his southeastern Wisconsin district.
Ryan was first elected in 1998 and this is his first re-election win since becoming speaker last fall.

This IS what the Republican party is. Trump is the outlier. But the Republican is about to get a lot smaller if they take Trump down.
Yep. The party of amnesty and TPP. And Ryan’s sheeple are loving this “victory” tonight.
It was expected.
Tough to beat an incumbent.
Which is exactly why I expect Hillary to win in November.
Throw out the bums mood wasn’t in evidence in Wisconsin.
Just after on twitter though, Nehlen posted a pic of himself holding a MAGA sign and said to not take that Trump thing personally.
Nehlen ran a bad race and was a bad candidate. Never was going to win
Uh, he got 85% of the vote in a Republican primary. Maybe his voters aren’t the ones who should consider leaving the party.
Maybe you should wait to crow about that 85% until Amnesty Ryan tries to push amnesty down our throats again? Just FYI: Pro-American patriots will be Amnesty Ryan’s worst nightmare. Understand?

Trump's endorsement had nothing whatsoever to do with Ryan winning this primary. Ryan was going to win anyway - and by a huge margin.
Nehlen lost by like 70%. Every serious poll (ie, not anything from Breitbart) showed Ryan would win in a landslide. Trump would have gained nothing by endorsing a sure loser like Nehlen.

I never realized that Wiscosin “conservatives” were so pro-Amnesty. But 85% for Amnesty Ryan speaks volumes. The GOP is in deep, deep trouble if its the primary voting base is this out of touch with the realty of beltway politics and Paul Ryan’s destructive anti-American agenda.
I never saw any polling at all, and I looked. It’s pretty hard to poll a house race.

Paul Ryan is a turtle turd. A one eye GOPe turtle gave birth to him when it pooped. Out came a green turd the size of a peanut. Thus Ryan was born. It’s in the scriptures.
I do not think they need to, it was a landslide.
