Dishwasher and Washer Design Victim of EPA and Dept of Energy Stupidity.

My dishwasher and my washer are victims of the EPA and the DOE.

I need the dishwasher to let in more water to wash correctly

I need the washer to have a higher level in the tub, in order to meet guidelines

We use a 1936 wringer washer. Saves a lot of water and cleans very well. There’s no timer so you can agitate a load for an hour if you want. We wash whites, pull them and do colors, then my work clothes in the same water. Swap out the water, rinse whites, colors, work clothes, swap, repeat and done.
Three batches of water compared to 6, maybe 9.

Hint, buy spare parts now if you can. Then if it needs repair do it yourself or when the repair man comes tell him you have the parts on hand.

Let’s not forget the low flush toilets you have to flush twice now.

Since the EPA took the Phosphates out of detergents they don’t clean as well. I refuse to pay for expensive D-W rinse agent, just use plain old white vinegar in the rinse agent unit. Works! Now have to add fabric bleach to my colors to get them clean and take out small stains that would normally have washed out. And have to add dye catchers to the light colors, when there is RED color on a item of clothing, cheap chinese crap dyes runs.

I am sure that there WOULD be a great market for that...and that it is probably illegal as well!!!

Just like the fact that old toilets with a full sized flush have a black market.

So, is there a work around?

Best thing to do is to max out whatever options that come equipped with your model (temp boost, heated dry, sanitary, etc.). DOE regulations don’t apply when they are selected.

Otherwise a software change would need to be made and that would be very difficult to change for the lay person.

He’s correct ethanol is death to small engines. Bring back good old leaded gas good for the engine and who cares about the rest.

Thanks to all for the great suggestions in this thread. I’ll be trying several of them (to start).

so my question is: is there a software change? There are software changes for duramaxes. Are there dishwasher software changes that can be accessed on the secondary market?

I don’t know about water savings but it is isn’t an issue for me, my well pumps 50 gallons minute

My washer fills to wash , fills again to rinse and if I choose fills one more time to rinse again.

Find some STPP or Sodium tripolyphosphate(Na5P3O10) rather than tri-sodium phosphate.
