"What does anyone expect? Hes 75 years old. Neither he or Garfunkel can sing anymore."
I'd expect him to stay offstage; it's not as if the Dem's don't have a million alternatives.

Seriesly. It was pathetic. He’d have done better to stay away, or maybe lip sync. It was just Godawful. Godawful. Embarrassing, actually.
SO the RS excerpt is two big lies in as many sentences. The song wasn’t “spirited” and there wasn’t much visible “coming together.” All wishful thinking.

His singing should be limited to the shower.

I agree that there are several possible interpretations, some of which are quite positive and empathetic.
The one that sticks in my head is drugs.
“Silver girl” was a very commonly-used street reference to a heroin syringe at that time.
If you read the rest of the lyrics in that context the song makes perfect sense.
It is far more comforting to believe “silver girl” is something else. Go ahead — that’s ok by me. I don’t know what the DNC believes.

Heroin, specifically.
The song is about someone turning to heroin.
Perfect.
Something we can all get behind - in Detroit, Chicago, and Philadelphia especially.

Bangles cover of “Hazy Shade of Winter” is better than S&G’s.
The song was featured in the film “Less than Zero” that featured a young Jami Gertz.
Susanna Hoffs was hot back then...

Paul Simon......
The fresh, young face of the Democrat Party!
Him and Hillary got together later and reminisced about entertaining the troops at Valley Forge.
