Cruz was stopped at the door because several attendees inside the suite were furious with his decision to not endorse Trump. An aide to Adelson then confirmed that Cruz was turned away.

Yeah, but hey have been. I think some of Ted’s campaign $$ was being funneled by Yeb.
I think you’re right.
Well, we were warned what sort of man Cruz was, when it was pointed out that Cruz had no friends in the Senate. How does one work in the Senate and get no allies?
By doing stuff like this.
Cruz & Rubio shaking hands behind Trump’s back turned me so off the both of them. Sneaks. Rubio is going to try and keep his seat in Florida after all, and I hope whomever runs against him uses that clip over and over.
I think he thought he'd try to capture that "Reagan in 1976" vibe when everyone supposedly heard Reagan speak and thought "we just nominated the wrong guy". Ford lost, Reagan won four years later.
But it seems instead what he did was make everyone think "Thank God we didn't nominate this putz" and the donor class to say "We are pouring millions into this election and you try to toss a wrench into the works by torpedoing the guy at the top of the ticket? Beat it, chump."
I think it would go something like this, Well, you Elected Hillary, too bad. Lots of luck, I'm going back to work.
Trump dodged a bullet: if Cruz endorsed, there would be some obligation, and Cruz would still be a back stabber. He’s clearly out in the open now.
Boo-TED. The WWE villain that gets booed off of Donald Trump’s stage.
If he only summed up that speech by endorsing Trump, he would have had a future... Instead, he shot himself in the foot.
He and Heidi could be late night TV preachers. "Send five, ten, one hundred, whatever you can afford!".
If Cruz doesn’t have his campaign debts already paid off, which is doubtful, he is never going to pull in enough big donor money to pay what he owes.
I’d guess it doesn’t take long for someone like Trump to detect a fraud. From my perspective, Cruz wore it on his sleeve.

Excellent point.
Upthread, someone noted that Trump had to deal with the Mob from time to time. The Mob may be criminals, but their word is their bond (I’m plagiarizing from Michelle Obama here). It is a good point.
Trump is pragmatic enough in having (probably) dealt with those political forces of organized crime, to understand that all a man has is his word.
He likely sized up Cruz in a few seconds of meeting him, as someone who had no integrity — who’s word meant nothing. Thus, Cruz was less worthy of respect than the Mafia.
It’s obvious, that since Trump read Cruz’s speech just before he went onstage, that Trump wanted us all to know that too.
Good! Maybe that sleezy arse will have more doors shut in his fat face!

LOL He has been sending emails like that for months ;)
For Cruz his word is his dong.
Cruz needs to be slapped a bit because of what a complete Ass he has made of himself .. he needs our reproval .. in the hope he maybe might possibly realize just how far he’s Jumped the Shark
maybe he might possibly reform his conduct, his attitude especially.... and prove useful to the DT administration in some capacity to help repair some of the terrible Obama damage to USA
I hope anyway. otherwise, he’s out of politics so far as I can tell. who would vote for him now?
To your point directly: It still would have been preferable to have Cruz endorse.
1) The Propaganda Ministry would not have this 'backstabber' point to endlessly report on (rather than some positive message that emerged from the convention)
2) It might have brought a few diehard Cruzbots back over to the Trump camp.
3) And finally, Trump could keep 'delaying' delivery on any unstated and unnegotiated obligation. "Sorry, Ted, this person is just a little more qualified for the SCOTUS nomination. Maybe next time!"
Because the “sitting senator” is a bloody moron.
The back stabber ran out of the building. And why would one render an obligation good to some who dishonored their own obligations and pledges?
