CNN had two different people on who said Ted Cruz will not be endorsing Cruz in his speech. The one reporter said that Ted Cruz anticipates running for President in 2020 if Trump loses and wants to show his sympathies with the Never Trump movement who has supported him.
This is just as I feared when Ted was asked to speak. Trump was kind enough to ask him, but I worried that Ted would use this speech to pad his own resume, to preach to his base, to audition for 2020. Ted should not be permitted to use this speech for his own ambitions.
Ted Cruz has allowed the Never Trump movement, with many of the members (at least the ones I see on Twitter) as Cruz supporters, to fester. He allowed the division and the attempts to free the delegates, ignoring the will of the people. That chaos on the floor the other day? Led by Cruz allies/delegates!
Ted Cruz has refused to honor a pledge that he signed, that he would have expected Trump to honor. Ted knows that his endorsement may encourage some of his supporters to vote for Trump. Ted also knows it might push some of his supporters away, the ones who would call it a betrayal. Ted is staying with the ones who would call it a betrayal.
If Ted is a true conservative, 4 years of Hillary and her stacking the court would be unthinkable. If Ted is a true Republican, he would want a Republican to win. It seems he is putting his political ambitions first. It's good for Ted Cruz (in his mind) if Trump doesn't win, but it's certainly not good for our country. I don't think it will be good for Ted either. He just doesn't realize now that 14 million Trump voters won't forget how he conducted himself.
Ted's spot should be revoked in an ideal world. Unfortunately, I think the media fallout if Trump revokes and party division with Cruz supporters who are reluctantly voting for Trump would be a problem at this point. He'll be allowed to speak, and I think he should have never been offered the slot.
Maybe CNN has absolutely blown this and will have egg on their face tomorrow. Maybe their sources will be wrong or maybe Ted will change his mind. If Ted does endorse Trump, I think opinions on him would improve.
Cruz’ speech has been scrutinized by the Trump team and if he goes off the reservation, I think he’ll be drowned out by Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump
LOL! Lyin' Ted's final stand - blinded by a thousand points of light!
Well, I guess he appears to share that little trait with Ted then...
There is nothing that will improve lyin Ted’s options. His career in presidential politics is thankfully dead. I have never witnessed a republican politician commit presidential suicide until this year.
Have at it, Ted. Be smart.
Sorry if I was too general for you, Tonto.
The tenor on FR was that Cruz was the guy we needed and Lee was right in there with sleeves rolled up for conservatism.
Just pointing out that "we" have been fooled a time or two - I remember way back when "we" were fawning all over Rubio as a Conservative Latino - until he wasn't. Same thing happened with Cruz only in spades and Lee became another one of "our" heroes.
The veneer has rubbed off a couple of the latest hopefuls to expose the GOPe in them. Heck - it wasn't all that long ago that some were starting to think Rand Paul was starting to see the light and might be an ally.
Seems like most who take umbrage with an set of truths also seem to be the ones who leave no trail of monetary support for FR or a candidate - take your complaints up with them.......
The last time I saw this happen was during the 1980 campaign, when Roger Mudd asked Ted Kennedy "Senator, why do you want to be President?".
And how do you know this? Are you in charge of the FR books? Or are you another one of those whose only form of exercise is jumping to conclusions?
He should be booed off stage for his antics.
Too bad the days of throwing rotten eggs is no longer in vogue...
Go ahead and sit out.
Wall's and talking to them
I’m not ever going to vote for Ted Cruz.
He will never have my support.
Do you sin? Do you need forgiveness daily? Why are you denying Trump the same grace you have received? I learned this lesson about 12 years ago and from what I see in our political climate that God is catching up to disciplining a bunch of you who need to learn the same lesson. He is giving you all a timeout like He gave me. Sit down and reflect.
You said you would vote against him. Does that mean Hillary or someone else? If you don’t want to reveal your vote, I understand.
I can’t vote for Hillary Clinton under any circumstance.
If Cruz is in the running, I will vote for one of his opponents.
If he makes it to the general, I will vote third party or not vote for president.
I cannot stand the man. I will do nothing to give him any sort of power.
The only reason I’m going to bother watching Felito tonight is to see him get booed by about half the crowd when he comes on stage.
I think what would be more devastating to his brobdingnagian ego would be silence, with maybe a smattering of subdued, polite applause.
CRUZ LIED.
He PLEDGED to ALL of us that he would support the nominee.
LYIN’ TED...Texas, wake up..he is NOT one of us!
You are right total silence after he ends his speech would be devastating.
