Neither George W. Bush, the Republican Party nominee in 2000 and 2004, nor Jeb, the dethroned Prince of Wales, will be in Cleveland. Nor will John McCain or Mitt Romney, the last two nominees.
These former leaders would like it thought that high principle keeps them away from a GOP convention that would nominate Donald Trump. Petulance, however, must surely play a part. Bush Republicans feel unappreciated, and understandably so.
For Trump’s nomination represents not only a rejection of their legacy but a repudiation of much of post-Cold War party dogma.
America crossed a historic divide and entered a new era. Even should Trump lose, there is likely no going back.

You know....I remember Pat Buchanan having the ENTIRE press vilify him and his books (opinions) 24/7 and no differently than they did McCarthy to make McCarthy a pariah along with his name.
That is the power of the Press, to literally make a villain out of a WWII hero who states the Truth.
The Truth is more hated than Lies (Machiavelli) and the Bushes along with the Clintons and obama do NOT want the TRUTH to ever hit the airwaves. All “Truth (God)” is banned and marginalized and demeaned-—and has been since the 1960s in the USA so that the Marxists could completely control the narrative and flip 2000 years of Ethics/Beliefs to insanity where little kids can not even tell if they are a boy and girl. (The PC control of language is to force irrationality and eliminte identity/Traditions, History and erase concept of mother and father so Christianity can be wiped out of the memory hole of mankind (Like in Orwellian,Huxley novels—all you “know” is what the State allows. All you “feel” is artificial emotions (drugged or controlled by screens—no human interactions).
Pat was warning us about banning God (Truth), decades ago-—even as he would be banned from shows/interviews, etc. There are SOME opinions that YOU are NOT allowed to hold in our “Free” society (LOL).
With infringing on speech, you control the narrative (what people believe). It was the first thing Hitler did in 1933 was to get total control over everything talked about—esp. in the Churches and in print.

This is what always happens to people whose political thinking is ahead of its time. Today Trump is riding to victory on a political and economic platform that's very close to what Buchanan ran on in 1992 and 1996. The irony is that many of the people who attacked his ideas then are embracing them now.

Good riddance. The big-government globalists who polluted the Bush administrations have done more to damage conservative principles in the U.S. than anyone could have imagined.

I agree, what a terrible sense of entitlement was demonstrated by Bush, and his little tantrum continues and what little respect anyone once had is fast going away.
EXCEPT recently when we witnessed the sickening spectacle of holding hands with the 0blah-blahs and boogie-ing at the somber police memorial in Dallas.
OR then there was the occasion he un-mothballed himself to back up the TSA's fascist manhandling of nuns, children and vets.
Moreover, while Zero has taken a wrecking-ball to the US, this globalist, 0bama/Saudi-enabling SOB has said ZIP, ZERO, NADA about it.

Unfortunately, your first paragraph is defeated by the second. Waiting 15 years (at which point nobody but those most interested in politics remember or care) virtually guarantees that it won't leave a mark when it comes to public opinion.
The best part of Trump’s win is that the Establishment Liberal Uniparty hacks have been kicked in the nuts and had their throats slit, hopefully never to return again.
