Appearing on MSNBC in the 11 a.m. ET hour on Friday, Daily Beast editor and NBC News contributor Christopher Dickey was confounded by the idea that the terrorist who launched Thursdays attack on France was heavily armed: ...where the hell did he get those arms? I mean, this is not Alabama or South Carolina or Texas. You just can't go buy automatic pistols in any old store in town by showing your driver's license.

No clutch then with your left foot?
I often laugh at the claim the French are unarmed. The REAL story is the French are very close-mouthed about their firearms. As previously stated, they learned their lesson in the last war. My personal opinion is there are far more firearms in France than are known.
Nope. But if you're bad at shifting to the point where the computer thinks you might damage the transmission it puts it back into automatic. I'm not good at it.
P-R-N-D in a straight line, regular auto. Knock it over to the left from D into paddle mode. Might be good for racing. You can use the paddles while in D but as soon as you slow down enough/stop it goes back into auto mode.
it’s almost as if criminals/terrorists aren’t restricted by gun laws.
go figure
Imagine the Nice attack had occurred in the US. The Obama administration would rule the incident a bad traffic accident and Obama would be calling for more anti collision devices and tougher licensing of large trucks
Missed one as in "he was dicked by his pal"

Very true
Presactly!!!
...I’ll bet the truck was registered too.
Truck was a rental...
Yes. It was registered to someone.
Ok, they CAN get guns, but apparently choose not to? I assume handguns are not easy to get in any case. I do admit to pretty much total ignorance of France’s gun laws...
I saw them at the K-Mart in the underwear section. Next to the black assault underwear. Try the 20 gauge 435 round clips next time. They are a prize in Cracker Jack boxes. They fire at 9,000 rpm and explode on impact. Watch them though, they fire themselves. I’ll wait until they are on sale even though they were freely available and more plentiful than computers. My computer is black, but that is all I’m going to say as it is an assault computer.
One more thing, that eighty seven caliPer is more difficult to shoot sideways, but I’m sure you have discovered that.
.
Uh, yeah, I know a little something about semi-automatic pistols. In addition to my Colt semi-automatic 1911, perhaps you have heard of Sig Sauer and Heckler & Koch.
.
.
Uh, yeah. I know about 1911s. This Valor was a custom order and bob-tailed for me personally by Dan Wesson. It is resting on a few hundred rounds of reloaded .45 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) ammo.

As a Certified NRA Instructor, people say I'm a decent shot too.

Despite all this, you miss the point of the news reporting "automatic" weapons when clearly the ones used in the crime were not automatic weapons as used in normal daily vernacular.
“Yes. It was registered to someone.”
Yes, it was owned by the rental company. No doubt someone’s name is on the rental agreement, but if you’re planning on pulling a kamikaze, that doesn’t really matter. Of course, if someone other than the tool/driver paid for it...
I agree...I’ve seen pictures of arms in private hands in France that collectors here would happily pay five figures or better for. No restorations or rebuilds, where one can only guess at the history (as with most M1 Garands and the like)...these were grabbed right off the battlefields as soon as the fighting had moved on and were hidden away in barns and attics for “next time”. And it was clear that most of these were never registered with the authorities either.
Unwittingly, the genius Mr. Dickey makes the case that gun bans don’t work. You can’t just buy a gun anywhere in France, in fact nowhere, yet the guy had guns. Go figure.
That is where I usually trained. 7-10 yards - probably 7, mostly. Had a relative almost killed in a robbery.
By a convicted felon who had been out of prison about 3 days.
Three words Dickey... fast and furious.
Correct. France has some excellent hunting, and they’re not shy about it. Get outside of Paris, especially to the southwest, and it is popular.
