Appearing on MSNBC in the 11 a.m. ET hour on Friday, Daily Beast editor and NBC News contributor Christopher Dickey was confounded by the idea that the terrorist who launched Thursday’s attack on France was heavily armed: “...where the hell did he get those arms? I mean, this is not Alabama or South Carolina or Texas. You just can't go buy automatic pistols in any old store in town by showing your driver's license.”

Me neither. My pet peeve is morons who use the term “automatic” when clearly the firearm in quest Ionian is a semi-automatic. Someone told me it makes no difference. I asked if a missing significant digit would make a difference on his pay check.

You’re right, Chris—France is supposed to be a gun-free zone like Chicago, not those Southern hick states.
He does make the point that a terrorist can get gun no matter what kind of gun control the government enacts. Mr. Dickhead does sound like an appropriate name though.
We have vending machines in schools here where you can get them. Ones purchased this way are called “machine guns.” You can order them with extra clips in them and they are all “automatic” and scary looking.

Just like when the Columbine Massacre took place, the 4 (!) guns involved got far more attention than the 99 bombs that were deployed, some to boobytrap bodies.
In the case of the Nice Massacre a truck was used to mow down several hundred people, and the focus is on the few firearms that the murderer had with him, but ZERO attention to the explosives he also had.
Liberalism is truly a severe mental disorder that we no longer have the luxury of giving in to in the slightest.
