Saturday, July 16, 2016: Donald J. Trump will be announcing Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his Vice Presidential Candidate for the November 2016 Election at a press conference. He has really highlighted the great things in our great state
I think they reject it. Rather than see a guy who really does have a good heart, they see a selfish egotist. As if that isn't enough to "knock him out," they also see him as an incompetent politicians because he does not speak PC, and has no hands-on political experience. Every remark he makes is compared with his entire history, and the slightest deviation is cast as waffling or flip-flopping - and that's for policy stands that aren't ridiculed outright.
Totally unfair, but his actions as president will be subjected to the same gauntlet. Few will rise to help him, many will be competitors, and the press, DEMs and many in his own party will work to undermine his initiatives. Not to mention the career bureaucrats, who are their own authorities in their own minds.
He knows all that, and he knows that he is going to have to kick ass, hard, in order to succeed. "Turnaround specialist" in the business vernacular.
I think it's obvious that the capability to run the country is not a requirement for election. See Obama/Biden, and for that matter, most of the cabinet. 95% incompetent, and it shows. Bad as she is, Hillary is more competent than Obama, and he was elected, twice.
Are we having conniptions because Malania, mother of a young child with a life, didn’t attend a presser that was rescheduled due to world events? We can’t be that petty, can we ?

I just emailed DJT and thanked him for his VP pick.
I also asked them to tell Don Jr and Eric to speak SLOWER when they give their speeches. Many of us old geezers (and others) don’t operate on New York minutes (ultra-fast!) Our brains need time to process the good things they are saying.

Oh yes, and I told him we pray for ALL THINGS TRUMP multiple times throughout each day.....INCLUDING IVANNA, the wonderful mother of his 3 eldest children.
Ivanna is an amazing woman, full of bright optimism and boundless energy. When I saw her being interviewed at length a while back, I was so impressed. She really is a gem, and is just as much responsible for raising 3 amazing children as our Donald.
Shame on you for not figuring this out. She's with her young son a few blocks away in their Trump Tower condo.

Hardly. His mother is right at his side where she should be as a loving mother.
Donald and Melanie Trump are protective of their son by keeping him away from the more raucous, crowded events where the insane media and camera-wielders will fasten on the youngster given ANY chance to push their way near him.

I think Campaign is trying to keep her for convention.
Don daughter is of same age and she love to tag along with Grand Dad.
Pence is a tremendous selection and Trump chose him because, in his mind, the work Pence has done in Indiana represents a microcosm of what President Trump intends to do for the entire country!!
I see your point, too, about Don Jr. and Eric. They seem to have inherited their father’s supercharged energy and unbridled enthusiasm!! They, no doubt, have bright futures and it would be awesome to behold a Trump Dynasty at the helm of our nation for generations to come.
The Trump family demands excellence and plays to win!!!
BTW, I am 56 and wish I had a fraction of their vitality!!

There is NOTHING wrong in asking where is Melania. I was the poster who originally asked the question, and I stand by my benignly-intended question. It was not meant as a slam. It was a genuine question.
I am fully aware of her maternal responsibilities and take no issue with them. I also know that she has her parents frequently there to sub for her as needed.
The official naming of a Vice Presidential candidate is an important occasion (as is the Republican National Convention, of course.) As such, I think it would have been nice to see her there.
But let’s not use this question to chew each other out. It is okay to ask questions/make inquiries when they arise.
Let’s celebrate a wonderful VP selection and unite behind our God-given candidates.

I’d love to see the three eldest children (and son in law) take an integral part in Gov’t in years to come!
I think Ivanka, Don Jr, and Eric’s mother Ivanna didn’t become a citizen until after their birth, IIRC. That would make them ineligible for the Presidency....but there are many other positions in which we’d be blessed to have them serve.
