Like many of these movements — feminism, Civil Rights — BLM was born out of some valid grievances, then got taken over & distorted by the militant elements.
I was an adolescent in the early days of the Black Panthers & remember the black kids going around beating up the white kids. (Those who looked weak, like me. The stronger ones were avoided.) I admired the early Civil Rights leaders like MLK, but after his death the whole movement lost its moral compass. The current activists are not even rational. These plots to kill cops have shown that they have reached a new low.
Apparently the veteran, retired BP leaders are embarrassed by the current incarnation of the movement, which they say had no resemblance to the original. Now it’s just thugs wielding guns. Unfortunately, this all reflects a lack of guidance, let alone intellectual basis, behind these movements.
I get the impression that liberals are embarrassed by all the current events, which are holding up a mirror. Not just BLM — look at Venezuela. Maybe someone should send Bernie there. Look at the rapes in Europe & Middle East. All the feminists should be sent there. Obama is trying so hard to save face.
