Teachers at a school in Germany staged a walkout protest at an end-of-term ceremony for A-level students after a Muslim pupil refused to shake the hand of his class mistress on 'religious grounds.' As the female teacher at the Kurt-Tucholsky School in Hamburg went to shake the hand of the student he offered his wrist instead. Apparently, seconds later, he told her; 'No offence, my religion won't let me do that. I do not mean to disrespect you.'

A client gave me two watermelons (hey, this is TX!) so I offered one to my new muzzy boss. He jumped back and stumbled into the hall like it was a snake. He was such an incompetent disgusting piece of manure. The first day on the job, he walked into my office to announce he didn’t like me. Oh, no! A left handed woman!!! Within months, he’d run the all original the staff off. There was one man still there when I finally couldn’t take it anymore and left.
What moroon hired such a person?
PS. I have been married to a left handed woman for 21+ years.
Meh, orthodox Jeewish men don’t shake hands with women either. Big deal.
If they luv Islam so much live in an Islamic country.
I watch with quiet amusement the discomfort of my izlamic boss at social gatherings. Virtually a fish out of water, he is unable to partake in any of the amenities offered to guests yet still expected to participate on a par level.
We really shouldn’t. And you know why.
If they had any wit, they could turn this around by claiming that for unrelated, unmarried people to touch each other is “not moral” (as different from “immoral”). And they could pound the lesson home by suggesting that many women loudly complained about “improper touching” by Muslim men recently, which is only different based on “body part”.
Would these same teachers be offended if our standard greeting was to reach a hand down the front of the other person’s pants? This is the level of discomfort we experience when someone outstretches a hand at us.
He probably knows how to make a clock.
Syria needs him.
“This is the level of discomfort we experience when someone outstretches a hand at us.”
If someone offering you a hand to shake distresses you as much as having your genitals groped, then you need psychiatric help.
Those teachers are in big trouble now. They will receive enhanced sensitivity and multiculturalism training, after vaving their lobotomies (or beheadings, whichever comes first).
Too bad your religion won’t let you leave others alone.
But, even the American black population understands that term.
How else did they come to be North Americans without the Arab slave-trade? Even the ancestors of our President were slave-traders in Africa.
The British “street-language” has it right. They am what they am.

I went out to breakfast with my left handed, adult son yesterday. The waitress brought us silverware and placed it on the right of each of us, my son just picked it up and put it on his left.
The waitress made way too big a deal about it apologizing.
I was using a sarcastic extreme. Westerners accept the idea that many Asians are grossed out when others offer their left hand, or even seeing people eat with their left hand.
So why should a refusal to shake hands be upsetting?
It's still wrong to slime whole nationalities and ethnic groups with demeaning labels. And you know it is meant to demean.
1st Amendment.
It ain’t against the law to use that language nor is it against the law to be a bigot, a stereo-typer or even rayciss.
As it says on every FR posting page, "Please: NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts."
Your post was taken down for a reason.
The law supposes, in practice, that face-slappingly race-baiting speech is a legitimate part of political discourse. As Charles Dickens put it in Oliver Twist: " "If the law supposes that," said Mr. Bumble, squeezing his hat emphatically in both hands, "the law is an ass--- an idiot."
Besides, this site belongs to Jim Robinson. If he decides to take down an offensive post, he takes it down. He is not obliged in any way -— certainly not obliged by the First Amendment -— to use his private property to provide a platform for speech with which he disagrees.
