Pence was Mr. Touchback Amnesty when the GOPe was trying to fool the base with it. He is the ultimate insider. He went home to try to burnish his resume for an eventual presidential run.

Trump speech review:
Positives
His tribute to the police at the beginning was fantastic.
He was more on policy than Cincinnati.
He seemed more polished and Presidential than at some rallies.
Negatives
He said he had pages of Hillary lies but we wouldn’t want to hear them. I want to hear them. Pound her because her poll numbers dropped. When they play clips of speeches, they play ratings grabbers. If all he does is pound Hillary, that’s what the media will play. You can never hit Hillary too hard.
He said he was going to talk about crime in our cities. He said he usually talks about building a wall, but then he got sidetracked and started talking about the wall. He never wound up on crime. I think this is something he needs to address, perhaps through a formal policy speech.
There was more policy but less specifics. He talked trade specifics at his policy speech and talked veterans specifics at his policy speech for example and should include some of those specifics in his speeches. Obviously he can’t throw the whole policy speech in there, but a few points would be good. The good policy speech he gave the vets yesterday could have been incorporated a bit.
All in all, the good thing is that, I checked the press Twitter accounts after, and they didn’t find anything negative they could spin to use against him. That’s a win in my book.
