Dallas police used bomb robot to kill shooting suspect
By James Rogers Published July 08, 2016 FoxNews.com
Dallas police used an explosive device attached to a robot to kill a suspect in the coordinated sniper attack that killed five officers Thursday, in what experts say is a first for law enforcement.
In a press conference Police Chief David Brown explained that the robot was deployed on the second floor of El Centro College in downtown Dallas following a standoff early Friday.
We cornered one suspect and we tried to negotiate for several hours - negotiations broke down, we had an exchange of gunfire with the suspect, he said. We saw no other option but to use our bomb robot and place a device on its extension for it to detonate where the suspect was, he said.
Brown explained that other options would have exposed the police officers to great danger.
The police chief confirmed that the suspect was killed by the bombs detonation, noting that reports the suspect killed himself were inaccurate.

I hope you’re not serious.
A title to bring in readers, but totally false. It is not a robot, it is an RCV (remote controlled vehicle), on which an explosive device was loaded as the payload to be carried and detonated upon a signal sent to the explosive device.
Oh Geeez. not another racist robot? Kind reminds me of a Pink Panther movie; “We’re you expecting a boomb?
“But there had to be better alternatives. Its not like he had hostages.”.......
Would you want to feed that S.O.B. for the next 40-50 years? Not me, the cops did the right thing and no wasted money on a trial, crooked lawyers, jail cells and numerous guards. Done is DONE!!!!
Prolly had blew eyes.
I have to wonder how long before the Dems use his military background along with the old stand-by of how we need gun control but top it with his military experience and how he more than likely had PTSD and we need to make sure these guys and gals can’t get access to weapons because they can’t be trusted...they are on the list don’t forget! Right up there with tea party members and bitter clingers!
It should have played hours of Justin Beiber. That would have brought the mofo to his knees.
Oh noes. . . not Culture Club.
An aside: I teach college and I guess I’m getting older and the students younger.
The other day I made reference to the fact we threw out King George. . .but the Brits got even by sending us Boy George. . .waited for a chuckle. . . (crickets). . .eventually a student asks; “Who’s Boy George?”
Armed Drones used by .gov and other agencies, Federal, state and local is the next front.
Yea. They only wanted to shut down a third of the downtown area, including the tallest building in town, a college, the civil courts and county government complex, the bus station and the primary downtown tourist dining area. The lines were drawn, however, to exclude the federal courthouse, the newspaper, and the dominant local TV station.
Speaking of which, Netflix just ordered a 10 episode remake of Lost in Space.
I am very grateful “Boy George” is being forgotten. . . .
Do you always ask foolish questions - or just on FR?
Oh goody. Destroying MORE classic TV shows I used to enjoy.
Did you see in the latest Star Trek movie that Sulu is going to be gay? Even George Takei, who IS gay, and who played Sulu in the original says that the Sulu character should not be gay.
That and a black Equalizer....sheeesh!
I think a lot of situations with perps hold up keeping the cops at bay are going to end much more quickly now that the perps know this is even an option the police would consider using.
I’m surprised he didn’t shoot the robot.
Was the killer out of ammunition?
#RobotsLivesMatter
Too soon?
I always thought it was tragic what the corporation did to Murphy.
On the other hand, “I’d buy that for a dollar!”
I’m glad the sob is dead....but someone is going to go to prison. LE wasn’t trapped. The dude was and he had no hostages. I wish they’d stop with the negotiation sh** and just wait him out....in silence.
