FWIW, the article goes on to say Newt is the "likely" pick per "sources". I still think it will be Santorum for a number of reasons. We'll see.

He better not invite that bum to speak at the convention and he better hope there are no hurricanes in NJ this summer or Christie will be giving out free Hillary Hugs.

Newt.

Christie as AG, taking down the Clinton crime machine.

My rationale for Santorum:

Santorum is the VP pick nobody is talking about. Trump is serious about PA and Santorum is from western PA. For Trump to win Pennsy, he will need to win it primarily in the western suburbs that have been devastated by poor trade deals. Also, Santorum ran a credible 2012 race, has credibility with evangelicals, could help in Iowa, Ohio and Michigan, is a bridge to the GOP without being overly tainted by them, and is close to Trump on many issues including trade and immigration. His personality is complementary which will suit Trump, who is pre-disposed to be the alpha dog in all situations. He will be credibly seen as someone who can be President, but nobody will want him to be, thus providing some degree of stability for Trump from the traitorious bastards in his own party. The only drawback is that Santorum hasn’t won anything in awhile and has been out of Senate for 10 years, although Newt has been out of Congress for nearly 20 and I’m a lot more comfortable with Santorum than Newt.

Not excited about the parade of has-beens the Trump campaign keeps floating. Surely we have better options than this?

Christie would be the worst, though.

Good news, if true, for the sweater vest industry.

I don’t like Christie but I’d love to see him AG and prosecute ALL the crooks in DC from both parties. That is IF Trump is allowed to win and I’m not convinced he will be.

No Fat boy? Good.

Newt is likely? Very very bad.

Santorum? He lost reelection in a landslide. I doubt he’s being considered. But he’d be a much better pick than most names mentioned, including Chubs and Newt.

Christie is kind of the opposite of Trump. He wouldn’t take on the Ground Zero Mosque, he was soft on amnesty, Muslim judges, wouldn’t take on Obamacare, brought Obamacare to NJ with medicare. I remember he attended a White House dinner for the president of China that even Boehner and McConnell didn’t attend.

“The people who’ve been pushing the Christie narrative are Christie people,” said one of the sources....

And Mark Levin has been pushing Christie so Mark can take little shots at Trump.

I’ve been plugging Santorum, who would be good insurance against impeachment in 2017. Santorum shares Trump’s foreign policy and trade views. And he is strongly pro-life, even defended on that by Carly Fiorina in a debate.

Santorum? Are you nuts, drunk, on an illegal substance, or all of that?

That makes absolutely NO sense at all!

of the three discussed here, I think Newt would add the most to the ticket (and almost certainly be helpful with Congress). I always liked Santorum quite a bit and would be happy with him if he’s DT’s choice. I do not care for Christie and would hope DT chooses someone else. I also think Christie would subtract a lot of possible support from the ticket, frankly. Just my opinion. Obviously perhaps, I will vote for DT almost no matter who he picks, we HAVE to stop Hillary from sinking the ship of state (pun intended) that Obama has so gravely wounded.

Trump 'unlikely' to pick Christie, according to sources.

Gee, ya think? More non news.

My prediction is that Trump's running mate is going to be someone who either hasn't been mentioned at all, or isn't seen as a strong candidate for the position.

Of all the people whose names have been mentioned in various media reports so far, Joni Ernst is the only one I see as a credible running mate for Trump.

A BIG YES on Newt. I don’t like any of the others that are being mentioned.

The best pick for victory remains Ted Cruz. Texas is a safe state to take a Republican senate risk.

The issue is victory. The focus is not legislative experience, foreign policy credentials, our favorite candidate, or even, within reason, conservative purity. It is winning. Without victory all other hopes are dead. Period.
